We get a 5 game preview of what he can do as a head coach. Caleb will still be his top priority, it’s a great chance to see how Brown can handle things. Why is Caleb all of a sudden going to fall apart, it’s not like he is leaving the team. There are many head coaches who also call plays, he will be fine. If he can’t handle it then you know and you move on.
How many intern coaches have been able to successfully stick and stay as a HC for the team they took over, or for another franchise? I'm not saying it hasn't happened but I am saying that outside of Pierce being a bust HC option in Vegas, I can't remember off head an intern succeeding long term as a HC.
This team is almost bound to play significantly better and will probably win most, if not all of their remaining games because the players all wanted the HC fired and will rally behind the new guy.
Then the players will tout for the Bears to stay with Brown. Then the sports media morons will all tout for the Bears to stay with Brown, the fans will follow, & the Bears will make the same mistake that Vegas made with Pierce and well all be sitting here this time next year with a team at or below .500.
I get it when smaller markets make the choice to roll with the inspiring intern. I don't get it when a big market like Chicago makes the same small market decisions.
If the Bears are going to go with a wild card hire at HC then that wild card HC hire better be coming from his own offense that averages close to 30 points per game for for at least 2 seasons aka Ben Johnson.
The Bears should follow Denvers playbook and trade for Kyle Shanahan. There is nothing in this draft or the next that will help this team and its QB
like a HC hire like Kyle Shanahan. Not a LT. Not a DE. Not a DT. Not a CENTER. Nothing
Caleb Williams and Kyle Shanahan will be a younger version of Reid/Mahomes. Act like a big market franchise and go get the best.
I hope fans remember that every year that this franchise dicks off with a half assed HC hire is another season closer to the end of Williams's rookie deal
