Bears signed QB Matt Barkley off their practice squad.
Barkley will take the place of OLB Lamarr Houston, who is headed to injured reserve with a knee injury. Barkley's promotion strongly suggests the Bears plan to be without Jay Cutler (thumb) this week. Brian Hoyer should start against the Cowboys.

God speed.

Ugh, I mean aren't there some other young guys out there that at least could turn out to be NFL talents? Show me a USC QB worth a damn from the last decade+, Barkley was the next big thing in college and underachieved there. Hell, maybe even Blanchard would be worth bringing back....

The carousel begins..... but, Who Cares ?
I'm happy to see change, eventually we will wind up with a QB that at least, will actually be a good game manager.
Who knows, we might get lucky and find a "Star"

My opinion on Barkley:

Get Barkley snaps. See what you have. If he sucks, he sucks. Then you just get a higher pick. You move on. If he performs well and you still don't like him, use him to get an extra draft pick. If he performs well and you do like him you can still take a QB in the draft because Barkley is far from proven. It's time for the Bears to stop NOT evaluating QB's on the roster simply because Cutler is here

This is the Bears, though. Josh McCown could put up Lou Gehrig-type QB numbers and Cutler still gets his job back. If the Bears were the Yankees, then Gehrig would have been laughed out of town as not being a 'serious' starting QB candidate, while everyone in the organization would be patting themselves on the back for re-instating Wally Pipp at first base.

Greatest offensive performance by the Bears in my lifetime. McCown and the Bears never punt, never turn the ball over. Simply score on every possession. After the game we are in position to take the division with the hottest QB in the NFL. What happens the next day? Benched and never plays again for the Bears.

That story sums up this organization.

Look at Barkley career stats and you'll be praying Hoyer doesn't get hurt.

He's terrible

Yes, It is clear by the 2 games in his career he has had with over 3 passes, of which 85% of his passes were when he was brought in the second half while trailing, that he will never amount to anything.

You can tell he is really bad, look at the stats he has from the 2 and 1/3 games he played his rookie year with the Eagles as there 3rd string qb that was not expected to see the field that whole season but was pushed into action due to all of the craziness in "chips philly". Pure trash.

Read the post guys, he is playing OLB, not QB. Nothing to worry about here. Either way he will have tons of sacks.
