The tag was always the obvious play.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Indiana Hoosiers
Using a $180.5 million projected salary cap, PFF’s Brad Spielberger estimates the receiver tag will be worth $15.808 million in 2021. Estimated tag values are based on 120 percent of the player’s previous year salary or the average of the top five salaries at a player’s position. But this estimation is unimportant to Robinson, who will have his own Franchise tag number.

huh? wait what???

2nd best WR ever to wear a Bears jersey!

Keeping AROB, along with Mooney/Kmet, will make Chicago a little more desirable to potential FA’s and/or trade candidate QB’s!

Naw, only thing desirable to nfl free agents is guaranteed money

So in this scenario who is the new QB throwing the ball to? Mooney and Ridley? Or are the Bears trading up to draft a new WR?

The one and only Ryan Fitzpatrick

Why would they need to trade up for a new WR? AR was a second round pick. Mooney was a 5th.

Tagging him is the right move, extending him is not. Bears have two of the worst players in the NFL starting at offensive tackle, a position vastly more important than wide receiver.

And if somebody brings up what stumbling Charles Leno Jr.'s PFF grade is...

Having an elite QB is more important than a WR

Mooney is a good WR but not a #1. Doesn't have the size. I'm just asking what the plan is at WR if they ditch Robinson. Will leave a huge void.
