Bears Scrapping The Arlington Hts Stadium Plan

Arlington is worried. It's not over yet boyz.

I still think that is what the Chicago stuff was about. I suspect they also hope CW lights it up early and adds leverage. It's stupid but people still love to be associated with winners and stars.

no doubt. Arlington Heights isn't stupid. They envy all the perks and revenue Gallagher Way is drawing for the city of Chicago, even during the offseason. The Bears can pull off even greater feats at Arlington Heights!

Remember that the bear willing to add $2B does not mean they will take money out of the bank or require a large loan. PSLs, negotiated nailing rights etc could cover a lot of it. It really doesn't represent a confirmed that they prefer a Chicago venue but it creates great leverage.

I figured it was a tactic to have AH panic and bring something more favorable to the table.

I mean of course it was.

Returning to the city is not an option, given all the control the city would have over parking and concessions.

To be fair, that could all be negotiated but there's just no room for the campus and sports betting etc. It's too bad they need to tease fans to get this done.

The folks playing god mode with chicago landmarks did get butt hurt over Kevin's speech so . . .you right tho, bears will run into far less restrictions at AH once they get the taxes figured out.

However, we understand from recent reports that building a new stadium would include demolishing Soldier Field except for the existing colonnades and war memorials. If true, such a plan would undoubtedly fall short of properly preserving and honoring the stadium originally built as a monument for U.S. servicemen and women.

Yeah but some people couldn’t see that.

Yeah, they miss a lot of things.

I wonder how many of them realize that all these pieces that are coming together means the Bears are likely going to be selling the team in the next 5 years or so?

You should have listened when he said he would be patient and look at all options.
Without the Arlington Heights property the City of Chicago would not be open to the Bears' stadium ideas. Without the Bears talking with the City of Chicago, Arlington Heights would not be talking about tax deals. That is how deals are made....
