I think we should draft a QB with or without Cutler. It takes time for them to properly learn the nfl. Also, imo Pace wanted Mariota because he saw something he liked but didn't in any other QB prospect. Next year we may have more options. Possibly not better options but given other team needs, a good young QB could fall to us. Carr and Bridgewater are good examples of good QBs that weren't drafted in the top 10.

If they and I think that they will get a 1-2 draft pick they need to trade down to about 8-10 and get an additional number one. Get a QB and a cornerback with the first round picks and a OT in the second round and a Lb in the 3rd round along with a safety. This defense sucks big time and they need to get better quickly.

Without a huge turnaround from the defense I don't see how they can't load up on defensive talent the next draft.

If Goff keeps progressing, and there is no reason at all to think he will just stall at 21 yrs of age, and if you have the opportunity, you take him no matter what's out there on defense unless they've cloned LT.


QB is JUST THAT IMPORTANT to building a successful franchise...

with how different college and the NFL are, I don't think it really matters where you draft them, there's still going to be an adjustment. you'd be better spending a high pick on a defensive position where there's not going to be such a gap in the games. at the end of the day you will probably have greater success building a quarterback like the Packers did with Rodgers anyway.

wish people would stop with the hypothetical "if the Bears drafted ______, we would be ______ now", they had no offensive coaching personnel to even build a sandcastle, let alone coach a QB. I imagine that will be different now with Fox and Gase though. that's a prime scenario with how things played out I guess.

Full grading of the top picks doesn't happen until fairly close to the draft, so it is way early to project QBs. I agree that you shouldn't go into the draft saying you are going to take a QB with a top pick because that is just asking for trouble, but it does appear we will be in a pretty good position to look hard at taking a QB early.

I think Cutler is 10 million dead money in 2016, so cutting him frees up 6 million in 2016. Nothing guaranteed after that year so its a clean break after that. You could presumably stick with Cutler in 2016 if you want to go a different way in the draft (or try and develop a mid round selection).

If the Bears continue to play poorly, it will be interesting to watch the top QB prospects in college. It will be 13 years since the Bears drafted a QB in the first round. If the Bears go that direction hopefullly they get it right.

The real answer is you can't go wrong with any of those top elite prospects regardless of position. Why? Because this particular team has a shit ton of holes and lack of overall talent.

Um, I called them at 4-12 for the season with a healthy Cutler. Looks more like 3-13 now.
