Trading up in a draft where the strength is the middle rounds.

Don't do it

I would like a trade up for a player with star power at a position of need. Graham or Carter, should either slip to 5 or 6, is pretty much the total list for me on this one.

No! As someone who is bias towards defensive linemen I do and have believed that Abdul Carter is the best player in this class, yet I would not trade up for him. Even if he fell to 7 or 8 I wouldn't do it. Just to move up even 2 spots in the top 10 is going to be costly.

The main strength of this class is its quantity of very good players on the backside of round 1 to the top of round 3.

If anything I would move back from 10 if possible. If not possible then take BPA at 10 and then trade back from 39 or 41 to the bottom half of round 2.

Players like Egbuka who I think is going to be a pro bowl talent yet is projected at the bottom third of round one. Same with Walter Nolen who is going to consistently give someone 6 to 8 sacks, 14 or 15 TFLs, 2 FFs and a fumble recovery from the interior by his second season, he's going to go later than he should.

JT Tuimoloau is going to be a pile driver at the pro level and he looks like an ideal fit for Dennis Allen. He is going to be a difference maker that may very well be on the board atop round 2. Jack Sawyer is going to be a solid player in the same area, though I definitely believe that JT Tuimoloau has more upside than Sawyer.

Josh Conerly Jr is a young LEFT TACKLE prospect that probably should have played one more year in college, but has a very good shot to be on the board atop round 2. All Conerly needs is a year to get stronger, everything else is there with Conerly.

There's too many very good roster fillers atop day 2 to pass up on for one pass rusher that isnt going to get this team over the hump.

The real question should be which player would most benefit our young QB, especially while he's on his rookie contract.

Instead, we're given an endless amount of questionable statistics. As Mark Twain said, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

I think there's a strong case to be made that a premier RB would be Caleb's best friend. Is Jeanty in a class above the other RBs in the draft? If so, pull the trigger--if he's there-- and I believe he will be gone by pick #10. Trading up doesn'tmake sense for this team.

I appreciate your perspective, but I must disagree.

Right now, I do believe that Graham is head and shoulders the best DL prospect in the draft, so he is my target. I put Carter in the same league as him out of deference to other's opinions. I think he is going to be an absolute menace, and that is something I want on this line. Should this team prove successful, they will not be so close to the top of the draft in the near future, so the cost to move is at its lowest this year. That makes it a smart option to consider, I think.

It may not get the team over the hump this year, of course. But if he is the star defender of this draft, having him on the team for when they do get over the hump is overall good, in my view.

Hoping for a trade back far enough for an extra second pick and select Nolen or Harmon, then address DE, OT, RB with the 3 2nd’s. Would fix a lot quickly but we’ll prob go TE, S, G and piss everyone off because it’s the Bears.

39 and 41 are worth 1000 points so tjat would be the 16th pick. To me I would not go that high unless you get say a guy like Warren drops to 16 and you want to get say Jeanty and Warren or OL/DL and Warren.

39 or 41 and 72 is worth the 24th or 25th pick so that would make more sense if yoh were targeting a DL/OL around then but my preference would be to just keep the picks.

Ryan Poles 3rd round picks:
2024: T Kiran Amegadjie
2023: DT Zacch Pickens
2022: WR Velus Jones Jr.

Ryan Poles 5th round draft picks:
2024: DE Austin Booker
2023: CB Terrell Smith
2022: LT Braxton Jones

In conclusion, trade-up from one 2nd rounder using the 3rd, then trade-down from the other and pick up a 5th.

Clearly, Jordan started hitting the sauce early today. Or he’s fucking with meatballs. Or both.

Agreed on the trenches. DL(y) or OL

I know the chart says 41 and 39 is worth the 16th pick.(I actually didn’t know that. I’m just trusting the person who said it earlier in the thread) I have had hard time believing anyone would ever do that though.

Getting 3 picks in the top 41 is nice. And I’m usually the type to want to trade down. 39 and 41 for the 16th pick seems really enticing though. I don’t think there’s a realistic chance anyone would would make that trade. I don’t really care what the chart says. But if we lived in a world where it was possible I’d be all over it.

This year may be the exception. All the talk being 15-50 are pretty close. So keeping 39 and 41 makes sense. Pretty much any other year I’d be all over that trade up.

Having two picks in that range of the draft is extremely rare so doubt there’s a history to go off.

They should draft at 10. Then use 39 or 41 paired with 72 to move up to the mid 20's and draft another player. My personal favorite combo is doing a DE/DT at 10(fingers crossed mason graham) and then josh simmons with a trade up.
