They really have no other options but then again Young only played 7 snaps.

"Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 48m48 minutes ago
#Bears OLB Lamarr Houston had 4 snaps out of 58 on Sunday and 7 for Willie Young. CB Alan Ball had 1."

the bears are not contending nor will they be contending this season...with that said, its time to define what players have a future in their current positions and what positions are big areas of need. I doubt houston gets traded as his production has been minimal at best, young may fetch a 6th rd pick or a conditional pick. If both somehow do get traded I could see an undrafted pick getting some reps like udfa OLB like Deontae Skinner or Ja'Gared Davis are two names that come to mind. Clearing out guys that don't have a future in this scheme is a no brainer, and if pace can somehow get something for houston, now that would be amazing.

Very doubtful they get something for Houston with his salary. Young is the one most likely to go. I wish the Bears could get rid of Houston but I just do not see it happening.

I mean who actually plays the position?

Young plays actual snaps.

They would probably rotate Laroy Reynolds in with McPhee and Acho since OLB is Reynolds' more natural position. Of course, this would require either a healthy Shea or someone like Jonathan Anderson to step in and start at ILB.

Aaron Leming - Per Source: #Bears OLB Willie Young actively being shopped. Return expected to be a late round pick. #Giants a team to keep an eye on.

I'd probably trade the Patriots' 6th for Mingo, even though I'm pretty sure he probably won't ever be anything. Have a year and a half with Fangio to try to get him to get back to what he showed as a rookie. That's probably worth what's likely to be one of the last 3 picks of the 6th round.
Yeah it couldn't hurt to see what Fangio could do with him. Like you said he could be on a par with a late 6th rounder would be at this point, or he could end up being a steal. I like the idea of trading for Mack and solve the center problem for the forseeable future.

etroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson, a high-profile asset the team could move before today's 4 p.m. NFL trade deadline, was not at practice this morning.

...

Also not practice were general manager Martin Mayhew and team president Tom Lewand. They usually attend, and their absence could signal work being done in their offices in Allen Park.

Could be something. Could be nothing. /insight

COWBOYS RELEASE JOSEPH RANDLE
Randle, who didn't play Sunday with a strained oblique, had been excused from the team since last week. He's facing discipline for violating the league's personal conduct policy, according to sources. The move was first reported by the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.

The most active market is at DE. Names teams are interested in: Vinny Curry, Willie Young, Jeremy Mincey. Will their teams let them go?

Been told that Curry is the most "wanted name" on the DE market. Young could be a fall-back/cheaper option.

The City of Chicago wants to put in Field Turf. It is the Bears that insist on playing on a cow pasture.

IF the city put in Field Turf, Ted Phillips would still turn the sprinklers on to create a lake.

If you get ANY pick for him you have to trade him. He doesn't want to be here and doesn't fit our future. Better to even get a 7th than cut him after the year and get nothing.

IT too bad about Willie YOung. For about 6 or 7 games he really looked like a good player out there. I still do not understand why defensive coaches do not vary their schemes to accommodate the players abilities not the other way around.

ESPN1000 is reporting the Kansas City Chiefs have acquired Martellus Bennett in exchange for a Totino's Pizza Roll, a 16oz Diet Dr Pepper, and 7th round pick.
