According to this nerd he was a cut candidate

Yes I read multiple places that said that too.

Before people freak out these types of trades happen all the time because teams don’t think the player will be there when it’s their turn to pick on waivers . (I know you know this and I shouldn’t have to say it but there’s always one idiot….. “but he was gonna be cut!”)

Yes, and that 1 dimension is what the bears desperately need

He isn’t going to be out there for run defense. He’s coming in on passing situations only

But I guess you expect a complete player for a 6th round pick?!
Knew you'd be in here! This is a guy I've liked since his Tennessee days, really has a great pass rush win rate and very bendy on the edge. Great pick up relative to cost.

From the little I read he sucks at run defense but can rush the passer. Wasn’t a fit for new defense.

For a 6th why not? 🤷‍♂️
Yes, he's DPR, but a good one. Plays only 40% of snaps but produces consistently.

You already know it! Kid can get after the QB. And he’s going to give the bears more value than that 6th round pick will

There’s a reason Seattle took him in the 2nd round. And I’d say getting 21.5 sacks in 3 years is pretty decent value even as a 2nd rounder

He is a bum but the Bears are desperate. He is better than Dom Rob. He won’t be anything long term.

I’m not against the trade for these reasons but I’m not going to act like this guy is any good or a difference maker.

Yeah... but aren't the Bears #1 in the Waiver wire? Think maybe that means they have a couple other names at the top of their Waiver wishes?

*Edit* Yes, I was wrong and I have been reminded that they weren't the original owner of the 1st pick. My bad. lol

Taking a flyers on a cut candidate for a 6th rounder seems ok.

Probable not a good player. Maybe they can squeeze something out of him.

Good value and it will add depth. DE is rotated enough that even if he struggles against the run, he'll have plenty of chances to impact the game without holding the rest of the squad back

So... No cheering for him if he gets any sacks this year eh? Just scream "You're a Bum" at the TV every time.... or "We coulda had a 6th round Pick next year instead of you!!!"

He clearly wasn’t a starter, but I don’t know how much playing time he got:
2021: 6.5 sacks
2022: 9.5 sacks
2023: 5.5 sacks

That’s not bum stats. Shit Demarcus Walker is more of a “bum” than this guy.
