Pineiro started off playing soccer, he was a four-time All-Dade County pick in soccer and signed with Florida Atlantic on a scholarship.
In the summer of 2015 he went to an open kicking combine at the University of Alabama. Out of hundreds of kickers, Alabama coach Nick Saban narrowed his scholarship offers to Chris Salek and Pineiro. Pineiro verbally committed to Alabama but later tried out for Florida and ultimately that was where he chose to play.
During his final year of college Pinerio had the best field goal percentage in the nation, 94.4% (17-for-18).
He finished his career with an 88.4% (38-for-43) field goal conversion rate, which ranks first in UF history
He also connected on 16 straight field goals to close the 2017 season, which tied Jeff Chandler (2001) for the second longest streak in program history
He signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2018. He was placed on injured reserve on September 1, 2018.

Found this on Reddit - some background info on the kicker. Apparently was one of the best FG kickers in the nation while in college.

I know the double-doink still hurts, but how is this kicker shit-show better than just having Parkey here?

Eddy Piniero from the Raiders. Was a undrafted FA last year from Florida that spent the year on the Raiders IR. 2021 7th round pick, if he is on the Bears Roster for at least 5 games.

Because if we find the kicker of the future it’s a non issue for the for seeable future. There is nothing about competition that resembles a shit show by the way.

I noticed in the post by Huxter indicates his NFL Combine tape was done at Kohl's kicking camp. I wonder if our new kicking consultant suggested the Bears talk to the Raiders.
