Hard to tell what he is. World of talent tho and he can be used like a BIG flex TE which is what we need considering kmet is cold cement.

He had to play with a rookie, mitch, and the corpse of big ben the last few years
And still put up big numbers as a rookie and repeated that even while missing a game his second year. I think he and Mooney take care of our wr issues. Maybe pick up another reciever in the 3rd round or free agency but if not i think we`re good.

Okay the discipline to his vision of a build has been good, but Poles getting bullied here. There's just no way Claypool's value has gone up since being drafted. He had a nice rookie year but continuously came back down to earth. Pick 49 originally, and you're giving up likely pick 40 for him.

Not a fan. Would rather have tanked harder without that extra receiver, and got a WR at #36-39 or so. Steelers feel awesome about Pickens is why they're willing to part with Claypool. Also was feeling much more excited about the draft going in with a 1st rounder and two 2nds to hit on, this sucks the excitement out of that for me
Look at the 10 WR's taken ahead of him in 2020 and name more than 2-3 that are better, draft is a crap shoot.

As a Steelers fan I spent plenty of time yelling at the television regarding Claypool.

At the same time I'm very happy both to get him away from Pittsburgh and at the same time get him where I feel he should have been all along.

Good for my steelers, great for my bears.

Poles used a 3rd rd pick on Velus Jones. How’s that working out?

Come to think of it, when’s the last time the bears drafted a WR in the first two rounds that wasn’t as busy?

People are assuming draft picks in the first two rounds are automatic playmakers. Apparently you guys haven’t been following this team for too long…

I’m thrilled Poles realized the importance of upgrading this position and isn’t fucking around, hoping a) a WR is his BPA when their pick is up and b) the player they pick meets their expectations
I've replied to a few comments in this thread, look at the 2020 draft, 10 WR's were taken ahead of him and maybe 2-3 are better, all in the 1st round, this was a smart move by Bears.

The question was asked I answered it. Do you think Claypool is better than Ridley? Even if yes Ridley was also traded today.
Ridley is talented. But he is a HUGE gamble. There is no way the Bears are in position to take that chance.

the same dumbass fans who wanted to pay RS top dollar. Or even worse thought he was worth a first + other compensation. Poles essentially got a pick, a WR and a LB for a guy we weren't keeping and he got fleeced?? How far into the playoffs are Mack's and Hicks new teams going now? Some of you fans need to be the cheer clap and stfu kine. You read a report from some other guy and cry like bitches on here. None of us can predict anything player wise and we certainly weren't privy to the details of the mood around the league. He got him a potential target that's all so far. I thought this was a Chicago Bears message board not a butt hurt fan bitch session.
Well said!!!

Thanks!

Ravens would have been better. But I cant knock it. They had to do something, with a barren upcoming FA market and meh WR class that'll youll have to overdraft for meh..

After Poles read my mock, he was like that fozzy is right, that AT Perry will probably be the guy there. So between Claypool and Perry he chose the Clay.. definitely a physical specimen. hopefully the bears win the trade
If the Packers offered a 2nd, the Ravens’ 2nd wouldn’t have gotten the trade done. It would’ve had to have been the Bears’ 2nd.

That's a tough one for me because a 2nd round pick is most times a day one starter. Hopefully it's the Balt pick.
The 1/2 that make it.
Claypool isn't a starter?

But the Jags are? Why aren’t the Bears in the position to take that chance? Hell they could have had both!!

To me it seems like a very low risk and high reward deal. It also protects the tank this year and would have given the Bears a solid 3 WR next year.

Ridley
Claypool
Mooney

Full picks and cap to build the oline and front 7? Sign me up for that.

Jesus Christ this would be stupid. All 3 of those guys would want new deals within the next 2 years.

Also I don't know why you guys quoting the 5th for Ridley. It is a 2nd round pick because if Ridley is any good next year then that means he probably hits the condition that triggers a 2024 2nd round pick.

So you would be giving up 2 2nd rounders and then probably having to sign all 3 of them for 55-60m. That would be fucking stupid.

It is a bad idea to have all 3 needing extensions, but if he triggers the 2nd round pick then it's a great deal because it means he's returned to the player he was and is really productive

Yes but that is the point. If he triggers it then that is 2 2nd round picks and 3 guys looking for 15-20m a year at the exact same time. It would be absolutely terrible roster construction.

I’m confused. Can you elaborate on why you hated him on your other team but happy to welcome him on this team?
