Bears fans seriously overvalued Howard. "But he was a 1000 yard rusher!" That's only 63 yards a game. He better get that when he's getting force-fed 30 carries a game. How's he in the pass game? What about his explosive runs? He make the first guy miss often?
Amen, unfortunately Bears fans overrate most of their own players.

This is consistent with what we have been hearing all offseason - The league, Bears included, just didn't value Howard that much. I don't think the team is better today without him, but I don't think it will in any way be a limiting factor in the offense. I felt like when it was a Howard drive last year, it tended to be less effective. Not sure if numbers back me up, but that's my impression.

Im aware that Howard didnt fit the system and I'm also aware that his production was diminishing per season BUT let's be real he was our best RB and we traded him for some Fritos, the chilli lime kind and too an already good team. This is ugly right now

We averaged nearly double the yardage per play with Cohen in. It wasn’t like 4 something for Howard and 7 something for Cohen.

I hope Taquan Mizzell has as many touches for the Bears as Jordan Howard will have in 2019

You got to take what you can get. We got an asset for a player that we had no intention of keeping and that was a bad fit.

He wasn't good last season. He is a poor scheme fit and he has declined the last 3 years.

My only frustration is that we did not get a 2019 pick. The Bears could have really used a 2019 pick for him.

I'm sure Pace has a plan, i don't believe for one second that Davis will be the starter

The trade of Jordan Howard will save the #Bears $2M overall but because of the rule of 51, they are looking at closer to a $1.5M figure in actual savings.

It cracks me up that there are clowns on this forum that they think they know what the Bears need more than Nagy and Pace.

Fucking hilarious really... Keep up the good work ladies.

Bro 3.7ypc is bad. He hinders the offense

We just got better by getting rid of him.

  • According to NFGSIS, the team averaged 4.78 yards per play in the five most frequently used lineups in which Howard was used.
  • In the five most-used lineups that didn’t include Howard, they averaged 6.8 yards per play.
  • The big difference came in the passing game, where they averaged 7 yards per pass play without Howard and 4.92 with him.

So Bears 2020 draft picks

2nd rd pick
2nd rd pick from Raiders
4th rd pick
4th rd pick - comp pick for Amos
5th rd pick
5th rd pick (conditional from Raiders)
5th rd pick (comp pick for Callahan possibly)
6th rd pick
6th rd pick (Eagles - possibly a 5th based on performance)
7th rd pick

I like it, I like it a lot.

I mean, it’s exactly what we figured his value was—a 6th, maybe a 5th if they were lucky. And he didn’t hold much value to this Nagy-led team as a player. So it was either let him walk in a year for nothing, or get something for him now. This should’ve been fairly expected on some level, although I admit I was starting to think they’d just pocket him.
Have you paid attention to the pick?

It is a 6th rounder (with a chance of a 5th rounder) in the 2020 draft.

That makes it a 7th rounder (with a chance of a 6th rounder) in the 2019 draft. That sucks.

How are you defining best. By the numbers he was brutally inefficient.

Mike Davis, Tarik Cohen, Draft pick those are ascending players.

Howard is a on a pretty clear descend.

yeah but that's only if we trade it away. in 2020 it's still a 6th (possible 5th).

Lemming said earlier today, May 6th or 7th, is when you can sign FA's without it affecting comp picks, so it could be something that they sign someone like a Spencer Ware if he is still available at that time.
