As a 6/1 cut, he costs about the same either way. That said, there's no point in moving him before the 53. Other teams may develop a need or Foles may decide he doesn't like the closet and chooses to leave. The last 2 years are voidable by Foles but not sure under what circumstances.
He cost an extra 5 million to release post 6/1 still

Those are team accomplishments.

Dalton’s production dwarfs Foles. Last season he was significantly better for Dallas than Foles was for us.

Dalton is much better than Foles. Foles played well for 4 games and some how convinced everyone he was not awful.
Dalton sucks and always has. In an era when even bad QBs can manage an over 90 passer rating, Dalton has only done this twice in his career... 5 years ago. He's not the QB you get to lift your team. He's the type you need other good players to lift in order to make him appear at all productive.

Of course Dalton sucks.

The fact remains that Foles is nuclear bad.

He wasn't terrible in Dallas last year, missed games to Covid. He's certainly a lot better than Foles.

He wasn't good either. He's same caliber as Foles. Some people just think he was good last year cause he wasn't as bad as usual. Foles had good moments in the beginning but when o-line was at its worst, he was just fucked. Fields is the only hope Bears have here. He has the ability to lift them and is the only 1 of the 3 with the athleticism to work around a less than decent o-line. Let him start and just pay Foles and Dalton for nothing, just cause Bears were dumb enough to sign them in the first place.

Idk about SportsTrac but their numbers are always off. How in the hell is the man going to make more money than what he signed for without hitting any incentives LOL?

$17 million guaranteed

In addition to the $4 million base salary, Foles has been paid an $8 million signing bonus for the 2020 season, helping him to earn $12 million in his first season with the Bears.

Foles' 2021 base salary is also fully guaranteed, and $1 million of his 2022 base salary is guaranteed,
according to the Chicago Tribune. Foles' contract also includes a potential $4 million roster bonus for the 2022 season. The Chicago Tribune also writes, "Foles can earn an additional $6 million annually for reaching playing-time thresholds combined with factors such as passer rating, postseason appearances and awards such as Pro Bowl, All-Pro, MVP and Super Bowl MVP."

If Foles reaches none of his incentives but remains on Chicago's roster through 2022, the Bears will pay him a combined $12 million in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

My apologies for calling you out when I may have had incorrect information and apparently didn't fully understand the cap implications myself.

I still think $1 million is too much to sink when they'll probably only have about 4-5 million under the cap

I don't see it as simple as that. Saw how bad Mahomes looked in the SB after his o-line was shot and Chiefs left with nothing but shit backups. Bears fans just saw Foles when the Bears o-line was at its absolute worst due to injury and the covid thing. That line, while still not great, got far better after all were playing again and some other adjustments made.

i thought i remembered reading somewhere that if we cut dalton this year we'll be on the hook for very little, if the kid shows out in training camp/preseason why not cut dalton, start foles until he gets murdered behind the new line attempting to gel

Doesn't look like it. $10m guarantee at signing though when I 1st read about the deal, I thought there was a roster stipulation for that to kick in.

Bears rented Dalton for one year, paying him over 3 years. There's no getting off the hook from that. It's the prorated bonus you can't get away from.

Slightly better version of Foles and a tad more mobile yeah.

Adjustments you cannot make with Foles because he is too damn slow to go under center or move the pocket.

Foles is terrible. Teams actually want Dalton, we cannot even give Foles away.

You couldn't make them one because it was midseason and between Covid and the injuries the changes really didn't take off until AFTER the BYE week when they had 2 full weeks to implement them but as I said Bears fans blame Foles for Covid injuries and everything under the sun .

Dalton was a free agent if Foles was a free agent he also would have suitors that somehow you believe that if we cut Foles tomorrow he would be out of the league pretty much says it all.
