Bears tried to trade quarterback Nick Foles to the Eagles & other teams but nobody wants him

Idk about SportsTrac but their numbers are always off. How in the hell is the man going to make more money than what he signed for without hitting any incentives LOL?

$17 million guaranteed

In addition to the $4 million base salary, Foles has been paid an $8 million signing bonus for the 2020 season, helping him to earn $12 million in his first season with the Bears.

Foles' 2021 base salary is also fully guaranteed, and $1 million of his 2022 base salary is guaranteed, according to the Chicago Tribune. Foles' contract also includes a potential $4 million roster bonus for the 2022 season. The Chicago Tribune also writes, "Foles can earn an additional $6 million annually for reaching playing-time thresholds combined with factors such as passer rating, postseason appearances and awards such as Pro Bowl, All-Pro, MVP and Super Bowl MVP."

If Foles reaches none of his incentives but remains on Chicago's roster through 2022, the Bears will pay him a combined $12 million in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

You couldn't make them one because it was midseason and between Covid and the injuries the changes really didn't take off until AFTER the BYE week when they had 2 full weeks to implement them but as I said Bears fans blame Foles for Covid injuries and everything under the sun .


Dalton was a free agent if Foles was a free agent he also would have suitors that somehow you believe that if we cut Foles tomorrow he would be out of the league pretty much says it all.

I think he would be in the league making a couple million as a backup. No one is giving him a chance to start ever again.

I do not blame Foles for being anything other than bad and horrendously over paid.

The line was bad and when you combined that with him being a statue it was really bad. You couldn't make the changes sooner because Foles can't go under center and he cannot roll out. They made the changes because they made the change back to Mitch.

Foles' cap hit is 6.66m...if he is cut pre June 1 the dead cap is 14.3m, post June 1 it is 11.6m....then subtract the cap hit....that is what it will cost the Bears..

Dalton's cap hit is 5.5m...if he is cut pre June 1 the dead cap is 10.5m, post June 1 it is 5.5m....then subtract the cap hit

Signing bonuses are sunk cost for both players 2.6m and 2.5m respectively. And The Bears have used up both Pre-June 1 exceptions. So any physical June 1 cuts have to be after June 1.

It would be cheaper to cut Dalton than Foles post June 1...

The Bears tried all those changes on the fly with Foles the problem is they had little practice time together until the bye week while facing the top 10 defenses . The difference post bye in the Oline was that they could actually figured out a better run blocking group after some time together if the Bears could've ran the ball at all under Foles the offense would've done better.

Hmmm, interesting. Probably won't play out but everyone knows Foles is best as a backup, while I'm not exactly sure what Dalton is best at. But it's highly doubtful they can get Fields ready to go that fast.

Although........he appears to be highly intelligent and that can't hurt.

You can say this is a bad look for the Bears, but realistically it's your GM doing his job.

Just to use another team as an example, how many times did we hear a Wentz or Ertz trade was about to go down? If a GM is doing his job he's on the phones talking to teams and/or planting stories. If they aren't doing those two does that mean they are just sitting back and waiting for someone to ask them for a specific player? Is that why you are paying the GM the big bucks? To sit back and answer his phone like a receptionist?

Let Pace do his thing. He realizes Foles isn't a part of the future and he's trying to get max value for him. Sure some teams will communicate they aren't interested, but we have to remember each team has an agenda. For the Eagles let's remember they are coming off the year where they drafted Wentz' backup and it created a locker room problem. For them to communicate they weren't interested it's more them saying they aren't doing the same mistake twice.
