Wish Mike Brown could have stayed healthy because that dude was one of the most electric players I’ve ever watched

Bears have had some HORRIBLE LUCK with guys who flashed greatness/dominance, but then got injured and who never the same. Tommie Harris and Mike Brown both come to mind.

Even though he is in the HOF Gale Sayers career was also cut short due to injury.

very true, Truth. I was mainly thinking of Bears teams recently, esp during the Lovie Years. If Harris and Brown had both managed to stay healthy, the Bears would have had a phenomenal defense for years. I still think having both of them healthy for that Colts Super Bowl might have made the difference in what was a close game, esp. against the perennially overrated/media darling Petyon "Choke Artist" Manning, who was barely able to guide his team past a Rex Grossman-led Bears team to begin with.

Anthony Thomas. Not the injury just a one or two year wonder, or product of o-line/coaching fit to skills. How do you produce a rookie of the year and then they just fall off a cliff like that?

We have terrible luck with big contracts to go with our terrible skill with them.

Yeah you're right Raskolnikov. In my lifetime, it seems like the Bears have had a lot of "one hit wonders" , guys who flashed for a season or two, and then were no more.

To answer the original question, I think Charles Tillman will be the best player not in the Hall of Fame to have played for the Bears for a very long time.

I know he will get mentioned and create some dust, but its my feeling his total turnovers deserve some consideration because he is in a group of outliers that include other hall of famers, like SS Woodson. There might be one other corner who came close to Tillman.

He wasn't considered a "great" corner or owner of an "island," but he was a very very good corner with great longevity that never seemed to lose a step and his zone reads were unbelievable. He always broke early and he always chose right.

I think he was even better than he was utilized here and he was a hall of famer for me.

I'm not going to name any names, but he's the ONLY player to EVER win the NVP award. Just sayin'.

I've never been a fan of acronyms, but in a mildly amusing tangent, in my profession, NVP usually means "name-value-pair" lol. std::map<> for the win!

Peppers is hof. Pry in with the panthers and listed with the bears and the packers. I think Briggs and Tillman could /should. Olin kruetz I think deserves some credit. McMichael, hilgenberg, Hester and covert should as well.

The thing about Hester too is you can’t just look at how good his return stats were. There were teams that would legit not kick to him or kick the ball out of play. Sometimes they wouldn’t even give him an opportunity. THAT is just as important as his returns for TD’s. His effect on field position was super impactful.

Briggs is not HoF worthy imo. Though he led the team for many years in jumping on the pile and high fives given out. He benefitted from playing with Brian U. He was able to free-lance as Brians range could cover up a bad decision on his part. After Brian left, Briggs wasn't even good enough to wear the headset in the huddle and make the Defensive calls.
Briggs belongs in the Hall of Pretty Good. He did not change the game with his play.
I think McMichael is one of the most overlooked, but I think his politics keep him out.

The most correct answer here is THOMAS JONES.

The last halfway decent Bears RB and the last #BEEFBACK the league has seen. He was like Marshall Faulk on roids and what I hoped Montgomery would have become.

He is definitely better than the ultimate whiny baby WaWa Payton and certainly better than the overrated Matt Forte who was afraid to run between the tackles.
