He loves his Ram
He loves his Ram
Also, just my opinion, but you get a lot more truck for the money when comparing RAM vs a Silverado. I'm sure some Chevy guys will jump my shit, but that's just like my opinion, man.
I have an E350 work van with V10. Great power but about 12 mpg. Damn thing has 265000 on it without any big problems.I currently have a 2014 ram 1500 sport with the crew cab, and love it.
8 speed transmission hauls the boat and horse trailers like it isnt even there. Power to do whatever you want.
On the highway, I barely notice the trailer is there.
With eco mode, the highway mileage is not hideous.
The downside is that they can be glitchy with the electronics, and the leather interior is not as nice as chevy. Seats are decent enough if you have the heating/cooling, but not very plush.
My other (work) truck is a 2017 f-450, v-10.
Cloth interior that already wore thin and has a tear from getting in and out of it after 45k miles. The interior is low grade garbage.
The motor s strong as hell but I get 5-6 MPG give or take for the life of the truck thus far.
if you are looking used and like comfort, the best truck I ever owned was an Avalanche. Plush seats, great ride, all the bells and whistles... but underpowered. For whatever reason you could only get the 5.3 in the 4x4 version.
It ate gas on the highway while towing.

Wow, that is a lot of towing capability. I take it you are in construction business?I currently have a 2014 ram 1500 sport with the crew cab, and love it.

Yeah, there is definitely a shitload of room in the crew cab. I never sit back there, but I'm 6'3" and there is plenty of leg room. And as long as your camper isnt huge it will pull it like nothing. I'm not sure if this is an upgrade, but mine has a brake controller and shit built in.Wow, that is a lot of towing capability. I take it you are in construction business?
What really drew me into the Ram was the back seat on the crew. Felt like we could get both the car seat of the baby and the booster of my 4 year old and still have room for someone to comfortably sit in the middle of them both. And the leg room on top of that... I am not into luxuries as much as functionality. Just want to be able to tow a camper and fit the entire family comfortably for road trips and camping.

I dunno, my truck is pretty dang comfortable. But I've never driven the Silverado High Sierra, F-150 King Ranch, etc (their equivalents).I am not...telecom industry- the ford has a 38' bucket and a monster inverter.. plus a trailer for splicing fiber. That has to be done in a clean enviroment.
Unless someone is looking for comfort first, I would agree with those who say dodge gives the most bang for the buck- by a long shot.
I cannot talk the combination of the hemi and the 8 speed tranny up enough. It will move whatever you need moved.

My dad owns a GM dealership. Driven them my entire life and every model they have came out with since I became driving age. I don't currently own one though, not very economically friendly for my commute lol. My dad drives a 2012 3/4 ton. He's not very flashly lol. It hauls his fifth wheel like a horse tho.
Overall, Chevy, Ford and Dodge all make quality pickups and honestly I think the differences are very minimal other than design. I am just biased for obvious reasons.
Gotcha. Yeah, the seats are definitely on the firm side of things, I guess it's just a personal preference thing. I like a lot of stability (once things are all dialed in, angle, lumbar adjustment, etc) vs feeling like I'm sitting on a sofa. But I definitely get how they would feel too rigid to some people. Probably most people. The avalanche I had was my comparison- the leather captains seats were amazing...super soft malleable leather and great support on the back, but the seat had give.
The dodge is great too- just different. A lot more firm.
I had a string of disposable cars when I was young- one of which was a 78 bonneville. The seats were pillow-top for the lack of a better description, and that is what the avalanche and Silverado captain chairs reminded me of.
Those are my weakness. I have built 2 and a half of them in the past decade.Speaking of Pontiac, I know that Trans Am had some issues but damn that was a hot car.
That is bad ass. How long does it take to build? Those are my weakness. I have built 2 and a half of them in the past decade.
I am currently midway through a 78.
Easy to work on and readily available.

I think we also had the same Bonneville growing up. Had that couch like cushion that was so comfy. Couldn't pass an emissions test but great for getting laid lmao.
Pontiac made great cars. I was sad when that brand went away.
I drove a couple in HS. Shitty, low end models, but they ran forever no matter what. My first car was a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM GT. Bought it with 130k and ran it till it had well over 200k on it before it got smashed from behind by some drunk. Had a sun roof, thought I was cool. That sounds lame AF. It'd be cool to drive some older ones.
Damn, you make me look like a pussy for not installing my new brakes on my TL just last week.I did one in a year, another one took me 6, and this last one has been 3.
The one year project involved zero body work and painting.
The 6 year guy was a strip to metal body and paint job, and I was learning along the way.
This last guy is a strip to metal paint job that will go a lot faster when I get in my new place and get back to it.
It got sidelined for a bit due to another car and bike I was really in to.
I have spoken before on the board of the vehicular game I have been playing for years... it has been fun.
I traded a buddy of mine some tools he needed for an old unused bike he had in his garage.
I put a few bucks in to it and then sold it for a profit.
I used that money to buy another bike and the parts needed to rehab it and did it again.
Repeat repeat repeat, and here I am.
The endgame is either a 70s stingrays vette that I can drop a supercharged 6.2 in or ideally a 1973 ford gtxb3 supercharged... the Australian mad max v8 interceptor.
All for the price of some work tools a a couple hundred bucks.
