Isn't that pretty much the elementary with myths, stereotypes, etc? Are any of them not greatly exaggerated generalizations?
Or are there exaggerated generalizations about da City-Folk Yankees that are true and not at all greatly exaggerated?
It depends on where you go in the South. If you're in a decent-sized city (Atlanta, Birmingham, Charlotte, Nashville), the people you deal with will be less-stereotypically southern. You're dealing with more transplants and people who have better educations. The same thing goes for college towns like Athens and the research triangle in North Carolina.
If you get into rural areas, especially in the deep south, the stereotypes are almost exaggerated. The southern parts of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi are like that. You get into those areas (and north Florida), and it's just like, "Oh, this is where the cliches come from. I get it."
