A minor character from Breaking Bad is better than 90% of the major characters of other shows.

It's not a better/worse thing. Some characters just work better in an ensemble or in the background. Janet from the Sopranos was great. There's no way I'd want to watch a Janet spinoff.

It doesn't happen often, but it does happen (Frasier, Maude, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Laverne & Shirley, A Different World, AfterMASH (okay, maybe not AfterMASH)). This has the same creative team as Breaking Bad, so I think it's gonna be alright.

You could tell they were trying to flesh him out in the scenes with his brother so he wouldn't be so one-note
Hope it works out and it's a big hit but my initial impression after the first show was meh

You mean Janice? I think that would be a hilarious show actually. She's fucking nuts.

Better Call Saul "Mijo" Review: And Now the Story Begins

AMC hasn't made the best business decisions as of late, but the network deserves some applause for its scheduling of Better Call Saul. Sunday's debut episode was an interesting and capable hour that did a wonderful job of introducing us Jimmy McGill, the desperate motormouth who will one day become Saul Goodman, but it didn't really introduce us to the show itself. And if the series had taken a week off between its first and second episodes, it would've risked losing the boosted audience it enjoyed thanks to debuting after the Season 5B premiere of The Walking Dead; ending Episode 1 on a bit of a cliffhanger and then airing Episode 2 one night later was about as smart as it gets. Any Breaking Bad fan who tuned in for "Uno" was probably left clamoring for more once Tuco peeked out from behind that door, but the interest of more casual viewers might've faded after a few days. Fortunately, with a turnaround time of only 24 hours, "Mijo" was able to pick up right where the premiere left off, and it felt like the point at which Better Call Saul began in earnest....................

.................– With a little help from The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul set a cable record for a series premiere. However, the real test of its staying power will be the ratings for this episode, when it doesn't have zombies as a lead-in.

Not only am I now convinced that Better Call Saul is a viable series, but I think it's already a candidate for one of the best new shows of 2015.

I watched the first episode and lost interest towards the end. Will watch the 2nd episode but I remember feeling the same way about BB.

not a good comparison

Janice was annoying and very unlikable (although she was supposed to be) of course nobody would want to watch a show with her

Saul was a pretty funny/likable guy in BB...you still may aruge hes better off as a background player but the Janice comparison was off is all

Also, the opening scenes where he was in the Cinnabon working is in Nebraska. I can't remember if there was any Nebraska connection with Saul in Breaking Bad, since the opening scenes were after Breaking Bad.

scroll up and read my reply

I did, and your reply had nothing to do with what I said. At no point did I say Saul couldn't carry a show or compare him to Janice.

ok my fault then

i thought you were saying Saul was a character that was good but better off in the background then brought up Janice as another character that was good but wouldn't want to watch a show about

I liked it well enough. I was wishing that a certain 2 annoying characters had been killed.

No one would have thought that the dad from Malcolm in the Middle could deliver an all time great performance. I found both episodes to be very entertaining, well written, with believable performances. It certainly is doing Breaking Bad proud.
