Appearing on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000 on Thursday, Walton was asked if he would trade Noah for Anthony.

"No, unquestionably no," he said. "Joakim Noah is a championship-level player. He's the type of player who you can build a long-term future around.

"Whatever Joakim Noah is going to be involved in the rest of his life, he's going to be a winner at that level. I'm looking for guys who like to sacrifice. I'm looking for guys who care more about their teammates than themselves. That was Michael Jordan, that was Phil Jackson, that was Scottie Pippen … that's where you have to go. Go with the guys who believe in the bigger picture, not just looking out for their own selfish interest."

1) Bill Walton sucks monkey nuts

2) Noah isn't a top-10 player in the NBA, Melo is.

3) Noah is at best the third-best player on a championship team, you deal that in a second to get the player that would be the best one. Does nobody understand capitalizing on over-valued commodities?

4) MJ was hardly about the team/org moreso than himself. I mean shit, he even said as much in his HOF speech. Oh yeah, then there's that whole "absolutely hating and bashing the triangle because he thought he wouldn't be able to win the scoring title with it" thing. But yeah, whatever.

5) Did I mention that Bill Walton sucks monkey nuts?

[waits for Rami to thank the OP and then post "YES, FINALLY SOMEBODY GETS IT...." bullshit , then continue to label Joakim fucking Noah as the most versatile center in the NBA :rolleyes:]

noah might not be a top 10 player but he is one of the top c's in the nba and a champion ship building block. with that said, ill still trade him for melo because melo>noah.

I will concede that, but you also need a player like Melo to go for a ring (unless you're the aberration that was the 2004 Pistons). So, if you get the chance to trade a smaller "building block" for the biggest "building block" you do it, because the team that wants the smaller one over the larger one is clearly overvaluing him. So yeah, what you said.

i agree. melo is the better player. he can get to the FT stripe and provide some relief for rose in late game situations.

It is impossible to break down a basketball team and measure them in a purely statistical fashion. (PS- Noah happens to be very stat friendly)

Team basketball is a creative art form... not a real-life stat chart.

I trust Bill Walton's opinion more than some people's (who haven't played pro. basketball at a HOF level)... not to name any names.

I will add that Bill Walton has an obvious big man bias, so I take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Would the Lakers trade Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom for Carmelo?

Seeing as Carmelo is much "better" than both of those guys... it would seem, by that logic, that a trade like that would be a no-brainer...

well... that is not a trade that would happen i guarantee it. why would the lakers trade there starting C and odom a key player to their previous ships. but i understand, you wont trade noah for melo, its cool. ;)

for the love of god, I wish people would get off of the noah bandwagon. If you have a chance to retrieve a TOP player for Noah you do it and you do it now.

even though i dont think he is going to get traded now because of his extension. i would of traded him in the past when he didnt have his new deal.

 You're a complete joke. Who said anything about stats, or reducing basketball to simply a numbers game? Nobody, so stop responding to things that nobody said. And your obvious bias against anything statistical and anything you perceive as anti-company-line is just fucking pathetic. Go away.

 Right, because that scenario is totally analogous to the situation with the Bulls. But now that you mention it, yeah, that would be a pretty sweet deal for the Lakers. Good eye.

I trust what I see, Walton is a guy who says a lot of things I don't agree with.

First Walton is a big man, and partial to them. Noah has a lot of Walton in him, not as good...not saying that. Noah won't be MVP of the league, though its totally possible that he could be Finals MVP given the chance....

On opening night, I watched Noah take over the 3rd quarter...he is still improving and maturing, but may never be top 10.

That said, Melo's dexterous ability to score is unparalleled in this league. I think the Bulls value Melo a great deal. I just think the Bulls believe they can somehow get Melo and keep Noah, simply because they may be able to offer the better deal. Its a calculated and very dangerous risk, we will see what happens.

Makes no sense. The Lakers already have Kobe. Don't be dumb.

..

Your example makes no sense. The Lakers trading two of their top 3 or 4 players for Melo when already having Kobe in no way shape or form is even comparable to the Bulls trading their 3rd best player and scraps for Melo when not already having Kobe.

How can you NOT see the disconnect in logic of this?

He won't be. Noah is at BEST the 3rd best center in the Eastern Conference. Let alone a top 10 player in the NBA. Right now and for the forseeable future Melo is a lock Top 10 NBA player and arguably a Top 5 player behind: Kobe, Lebron, Wade, and Durant.
