Well, I look at power rankings as a running theory in progess. It basically compares who are the teams to beat at this particular moment compared against seasonal trends. They have little bearing on the *actual* game except for fans trying to predict which team has a chance of beating which team on a specific night, and for the fantasy sports geeks.



They're amusicn and sometimes insightful reads, but mean very little except fodder for discussion (not always a bad thing).

Exactly, who is hot and who is not on a week to week basis.

Here it is: Based on overall finish in NHL Standings since 1990 (not conference)



1st = 24%

2nd = 10%

3rd = 19%

4th = 10%

5th = 10%

6th = 10%

7th = 5%

8th = 10%

9th = 0%

10th = 5%

So there it is, being #1 in the league is your best shot at winning a Cup. Nice work Al!
