According to who? LA's power-play was 17th in 2012 (17.0%), 21st in 2011 (16.2%), 7th in the NHL in 2010 (20.8%), 14th in 2009 (19.2%)

With the exception of 2011, each of those percentages were far better than anything the Blackhawks put together. Anything between 17-20% seems to be a pretty decent production rate. Anything above that is top 5.

We shall see. 16.2% and 17% don't exactly inspire confidence, especially with the talent LA had to put out on the PP the last two seasons. Regardless, I prefer to hear from people that actually watched the Kings and their PP, than looking at the numbers.

Would you say the Hawks' PP looked good in 2010-2011? It is actually amazing that their PP finished where it did, to be honest. It looked dreadful for huge stretches, but you would never know that by looking at the numbers. That's why testimony from people that watched is so valuable. Why does nobody anywhere have anything positive to say about this guy?

Cause apparently he sucks. I couldn't find one good thing about him except Darren Pang kissing his ass.

I bet most fans complain about their PP coaches, God knows we do no matter what percentage they produce at. When we won the Cup we didn't exactly have the best PP either and everyone complained until it produced at the right time in the Playoffs. I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Theres a lot more complaining than the PP. Most wanted him gone when the Murray was fired.

22.5% in the playoffs when they won the cup. Works for me. Conversely, the Kings won the cup with a 12.8% clip on the PP this season.

Regardless, everyone thinks he sucks. You are familiar with the theory of Occam's Razor, right?

What are some examples other than the PP? I'm too lazy. Now I know how PMXC feels when we complain about "coaching" this guy is in the shitter without even landing in Chicago yet..

Yea but they had a goalie who doesn't allow GA's. We don't. We have Crawford.

Holy Crap! Some of them are pasted in this thread you lazy pile of shit.

Funny ass comment===

Jamie Kompon’s game plan is atrocious. It’s like fucking up a subway sandwich.

It’s not like he didn’t have 10 days to prepare for these games! He could have watched footage from the stone age. THIS is the gameplan he comes up with for Columbus, St Louis and Carolina?

SERIOUSLY?

Never in the history of the Kings have they sucked this bad on offense and I well remember the days when Ray Ferraro and Dmitri Khristich were leading the team in scoring.

I wasted my time last night when I could have been happily masturbating (the Kings loss ruined any woody) and they wasted my time tonight, but at least I had filet mignon and thai shrimp and a bottle of california cab.

Still can't find anything other than straight up bashing (without backing up opinion) and complaints about the PP.

I think it's similar to what Hawk fans do with Kitchen. Is it warranted? Could be. He kept his job.

No Hawks fan has ever written anything like this about Kitchen. Shame on Kuc and Jahns for re-tweeting this pile of hot garbage. How anyone can take that pile of crap seriously is laughable to begin with.

I know we poke humor from time to time, but if anyone wrote anything like that on here I would hang my head in shame.

was pretty funny which is why I typed it. And if you don't hang your head from time to time, your pink tie is awesome!

And there's been some pretty funny shit written about Kitchen as well. Even when he wasn't running the PP there was funny shit. Again it matters little in Chicago who the Assitant Coaches are because well, Q does it all. Has final say and coaches everything. "In charge" when it comes to Q is only in theory, not in application.

I'm stealing a PMXC move...

Had the Kings scored on 10 more of their PP opportunities everyone would be in line to blow this guy as he would of had the 4th best Power Play % in the league.

I'm going to wait and see what happens before I toss the guy under the bus.

Gauthier get the same pass? His track record is putred.

His GM-ing track record or his scouting track record?

ETA: The former is obvious.

The LA writers were calling for Bernier at the beginning of the season to play more than Quick...

Linky Linky?

So your going to use imaginary stats that never happened to back a point? What a concept.

Any coach who coaches according to the press's wishes will soon be out of a job.

It was the coaching staff's wish to play Bernier more this year so that Quick would be more rested for the playoffs.

Sometimes I think assistant coaches are massively overrated. I would hope Q would have significant input into all facets of the game plan. Assistant coaches always seem to get much more blame or credit than they actually deserve. Haviland was cheered by many including me. But what impact did he have? It's hard to quantify. Look at LA, Sutter takes over and the whole team goes from lifeless to a beast. The assistant coaches didn't change the players responded to Sutter. Head coaching matters more, and the players are really what matter.
