FYI on passes and hotel reservations. This is based on MY conversations with hotel and Blackhawks personnel when I reserved the rooms.

I reserved one room for two nights as soon as we were able to months ago through the hotel. I was told I would get two tickets for each night. Then a few weeks later a girl from the Blackhawks ticket sales office called and told me that I needed to "officially request" the other two tickets or I would only get TWO and they would release the other two. I told her I wasn't sure. So, she called back about three times over the next few weeks and I finally said that I didn't need the extra tickets.

So unless they changed plans, I take that to mean that when we check in on Friday night Melissa and I will be handed TWO passes and no more. I don't know if anyone else ever got a call like that. Just...be warned.

I did the same and was never contacted by the Blackhawks about "Officially requesting" the other 2.

Jesus, Charlie, you're doing an awful lot of extracurricular dicking around this summer instead of spending it with us beatoffs.

Am I the only one who isn't quite as geeked about attending the Convention, with most of the Cup-winning team now gone? Don't get me wrong, I love the guys who are left and I don't see the team completely tanking this season with the core we have. But in my naive mind I was looking at the Convention as a way to celebrate the Cup with the team and now there are like eight guys left. I knew there was no way to keep the whole team together. Still, I didn't expect quite the decimation we're experiencing (losing Ladd really hurt me for some reason). I'm still looking forward to going, especially to the seminars, but it's gonna be weird.

Agreed although some of us really enjoy the opportunity to spend some time with our fellow Blackhawks brethren as much as the convention itself. Personally, nothing will ever top the first convention and having the opportunity to have breakfast with Mikita and then milling around with Tony O, Bobby, Savard, Kane, Seabs, Toews, Keith, Sharp and Burish.

Exactly. Nothing will ever top that first Sunday morning, so for me it's more about getting to see friends again.

The breakfast last year was pretty cool but I agree the first year was the best. I don't think I'll be doing the breakfast this year.

I took a look at the convention information about reserving a room at the Hilton: http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=508987 and then I thought some more about what happened last December after I booked the room.

Here is an exerpt about the tickets you get when you reserve a room:

Fans can also make hotel room reservations at the Hilton Chicago starting on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M., by calling (877) 865-5320. The room package includes two weekend convention passes (per room, per night) with a minimum one-night stay.

The Blackhawks ticket sales office kept calling me because there was an option to buy two more tickets at a reduced price (per room, per night). I declined that option.

So like stu and Pez believe, I now believe/hope that when we get there on Friday we will be handed FOUR passes and swag bags since we are staying for two nights. However I could have purchased up to four additional tickets at a reduced price, which I declined.

Clear as mud?

Well, when I called the hotel a few days ago, they SPECIFICALLY SAID that I will have EIGHT PASSES for the weekend, since we booked two rooms, for two nights each. If I don't have those EIGHT PASSES, I will be going ballistic.
