emery is playing better. its just basically picking the better of the two pieces of shit for goalies. i dont think anyone compared emery to lund. I think joes whole point is a bit exaggerated IMO. he took the wrong route in his debate. The summary is that some fans actually think he is good and used his "experience" as their backup to their arguement. There is a reason he was a try out. We dont have a good goalie here, and salak is not the ansewer.

People ready to run Craw outta Chicago & think Emery is all of a sudden King Lundqvist.

Dunno about that- he's a goalie who is playing all right... that's about it really... he's young, and unsigned for next season, and all the Hawks have currently is Crawford (which doesn't really seem like enough at this point ... sorta like having Huet and Niemi -but not knowing that Niemi would end up being Niemi and not say a Huet clone... not a great feeling.).

it depends on matchup. Id rather play phoenix in the 1st round which IMHO we have a chance against. The nucks, wings, and even preds/st louis I dont think we could get passed.

Phoenix gives the Hawks fits. They need Toews or they're done quick.

It will be really interesting to see how this season shakes out and then of course the off season with the goalie situation.

There are a few UFA goalie's to take a look at depending on what direction the Blackhawks want to go...but remember, it seems like the Hawks are a team that are going to go with the Red Wings model and just get a quality goalie for the money and not one that is going to steal games every night and carry a large cap hit.

Some goalies that interest me and their current cap hit...

Chris Mason - 1.850 (I like him as a back up)
Dan Ellis - 1.500 (I like him as a back up)
Tomas Vokoun - 1.500
Martin Biron - .875 (I like him as a back up)
Josh Harding - .750 (I like him as a back up)

As you can see...a lot of guys that could possible be a tandem with Crawford while Vokoun really only stands out as the premier guy that can consistently start for a team.

I don't see the Blackhawks trading for a goalie unless it is a huge deal. Guys like Bernier, Schneider, and Lindback would most likely not be traded to the Blackhawks because of being in the same conference. It has happened before, just more unlikely.

also wrigley there is a reason for the 10 point swing in the standings with us and detroit. detroit is better, that is a fact, and if you or any other fan thinks different they shouldnt watch hockey. I mean a +7 differential vs a +56 differential tells you that detroit is MUCH better.

I didn't say it meant we were better, but that beating a team that good that often is impressive.

I like Corey Crawford as a back up.

I'm most interested to see what Vokoun does. The guy took a HUGE pay cut this year and is still clearly a starter. I have no idea what Washington is doing but it is gross mismanagement of a quality goaltender such as Vokoun.

If Crawford were the back up, I'd be very surprised to see the Blackhawks spend more than a combined $5.5Mil or so on a goalie tandem. Crawford takes up almost half of that figure.

I guess I did overlook a possible Tim Thomas trade if the Bruins are ready to go 100% with Rask who will be a RFA this summer. Rask will likely get a raise and that might bump Thomas out who does have 1 year left at a cap hit of 5 mil (a nice bonus is that his salary is only $3Mil, which Rocky would like).
