I think HW was being sarcastic.

And the TCI cited its source:

Whether or not you want to believe it is up to you.

Yes, I was being sarcastic after getting called out for posting two tidbits that have now shown up elsewhere and no one has made a stink about them. No one is going to reveal their sources nor should they be expected to.

If all Sharpie did was punch Kaner in da face I say we keep him another year.... Kane has probably been punched by alot of dudes at bars..... I am surprised Toews doesn't slap him around like once a year.

And if Sharp cheated on his wife.... great.... don't care.... its his life off the ice, none of our business and has nothing to do with hockey unless it turns out he cheated on his wife with a child and thus he committed a serious crime we ought to be worried about.

I think if you go and trade Sharp you drop one of the core players with Hossa being another core player who will not be with us a whole lot longer.... unless you can move Sharp and know for certain you have another person to replace him as a core player I would not move him.

And this comes from a fan who was a bit frustrated with Sharp at times this season and for a good chunk of the playoffs, but I know he is a better hockey player than some of the bad moments he had this year.

I thought judging by your moniker that you might actually know something about being a legitimate writer, but apparently that is not the case. Many moons ago working for both the Stars and Stripes and the Herald, I learned one thing....nothing hits print without validation. Of course, for anyone on the net....that does not apply. Which is exactly why no one should take anything they read on the internet seriously.

That's fine, then you don't have to take it seriously. I explained myself and my comment on page 1 (posted below). I'm not going to give names of these people who told me, there is no reason to do that and no one would ever do that. At the end of the day, I gave two outside reasons for why Sharp may be traded by the Blackhawks and I believe where there is smoke, there is fire.

The last thing I'm trying to do is start some crazy rumor - these are just two things I heard from people that have ties and no real reason to bullshit me. I was told that there was an altercation between Sharp and Kane where Kane ended up on his ass after they had a few too many drinks. The other thing, I won't get too far into because it is what it is and isn't the greatest rumor out there for one's image. Rumors are rumors, I take them as that but when I am told directly from someone, I suppose my ears perk up a little bit more.

Look ... I'm not presenting this information as a demand that Sharp be traded.

I just thought it was weird that a 32-year old player who's still playing quite well and just led his team in goals in the regular season was suddenly the subject of trade talks. When HW presented his information yesterday, that seemed like it could be a solid reason. With more information out there today, it lends more credibility to the initial claims made by HW. That blog, dhf, has been selling programs outside the UC for over a decade now and they're very good at what they do. I've no reason to believe their claims are without basis.

I'm still not advocating a trade of Sharp, but if the right offer is there, I'd listen. I don't think it's any secret that McD and company try to maintain a pristine image of the Blackhawks in the public. A guy that's feuding with teammates and cheating on the mother of his two kids would tarnish some of that reputation. So, if true, it wouldn't surprise me if those transgressions have a hand in Sharp being trade bait.

And before anyone tries to compare Sharp to Kane a few years back ... I think there's a significant difference between a guy in his young 20s drinking/partying too much and a guy in his early 30s fooling around outside of a marriage that involves two kids.

You say nothing hits print without validation, and that's true. But the fact that the TCI didn't report on those rumors until they had multiple reports of a similar nature qualifies as validation in my book. It's wasn't one source. It was several.

No it isn't. Not even close. All he's doing is basically chain-mailing the same rumors he's heard....regurgitating the same crap that others are. That wouldn't be validation in a high school publication. Look, I don't care if they trade him or not if it helps the team but I really hate it when guys get dragged through the gutter as cheap way to make a trade seem plausible. It's bullshit....it's talk radio crap.

part of your post is correct so A for effort.

the part where he cheated or supposedly cheated is the dumbest reason to trade a guy. if he beat his wife, robbed a liqour store that is much different. athletes cheat, always had, always will. kids or no kids, it doesnt make the team look bad. its a huge reach on your part to assume that.

Any way to add a poll to this thread.... I would be interested to see how many people here want us to trade Sharp.

Not gonna lie, as long as he is not murdering or fucking children, I could care less what he does OFF the ice.

Besides, I thought it was common knowledge that every pro athlete fucks multiple women a month who are not their wife?

An organization that got Susannah Collins fired because she accidentally said the word "sex" during a TV broadcast seems, to me, like they'd have a problem with a guy sleeping his way around town. Combining that with the alleged incident involving a teammate (who everyone seems to think is Patrick Kane) and I think they'd have enough reason to entertain the idea of moving him around town.

Basically, I think McD and company are too damn uptight and any potential bad press is something they're going to act quickly to squash.

I agree.

But I think this particular organization is extra-sensitive to any sort of bad press.

I'd trade him if you can get cheap, young, NHL ready talent in return. Or an elite 2C
