He'll be on the top line with JT and Sharp.

Stalberg will start the Season on the IR to get the team to 23 man.

Amazing to thing that this kids potential was seen by a lot of teams and they let him fall all the way to the hawks in the 2nd round. I know there were reasons, but glad we got him and can finally see why so many thought he was the steal of the draft. The analytical stuff is always what Scottie was good at, numbers numbers, but it's good to see him find a diamond in the rough Tallon style. Good Luck to Sadd, glad to hear he won't be on the 4th. Hope he get's more than 9. Otherwise I'm going to scapegoat the shit out of him, cause I can.

Just curious, but who would you call a diamond in the rough, that Tallon drafted?

I didn't say he had to be drafted... But I'd say Sharp. and since you aren't contesting that Saad is a diamond in the rough we can say Keith, Bolland, hammer, Niemi, Crawford?

And the roster is set. At least unitl Stalberg comes off the injury list. Does Saad get more than 9 games and if so who is sent packing when Stalberg comes back? Very interesting.

When was Tallon's first draft with the Hawks? Wasn't it 2005? Pretty sure Keith was a Mike Smith draft pick. I thought Pulford was running the show for the 2004 draft?

I'm not sure if I'd be willing to call 2nd rounders diamonds in the rough either. There are typically expectations that 2nd rounders turn into good NHL players. That's more reserved for the rounds 4+, IMO. I'd say Hammer is really the only one he drafted. The Sharp trade was highway robbery. Niemi was an undrafted free agent, but I'll concede that one too.

I'm pretty sure Tallon was doing the scouting in those years, as well as broadcasting. He had more than one title.

I have to disagree with this. Anything past the top 15 is a crap shoot. Expectations aside.

The entire draft is really a crap shoot, to be honest. Barker, Skille?

I'd still hardly call a 2nd round pick a diamond in the rough. You pick them there because you expect that they can contribute to the NHL roster. The picks after that, you're more hoping they contribute.

I totally agree. Tallon was director of player personell for many of those drafts. Long before he became GM.

As for Barker remember he shattered his ankle. IMO that had a lot to do with his development before they rushed him into the NHL.

Wow... if his preseason can translate to a full season, I think he'll be an excellent value.

What are the chances he pulls a full season this year? I mean does the 3-year indicate it or was it necessary for his 10 game tryout?
