Brandon Webb has reached a contract agreement with the Rangers, according to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse.

Webb's agent Jonathan Maurer declined to comment on the report. The 31-year-old won the Cy Young in 2006 and produced a 3.30 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 34 starts in 2008. His career derailed shortly thereafter, with shoulder problems limiting him to four innings over the last two seasons. Even so, Webb is a great low-risk signing by the Rangers, who lost staff ace Cliff Lee to the Phillies. Webb will likely be Texas' fourth starter. Contract terms have not yet been released. Texas beat out the Reds, Yankees, Rangers, Cubs and Nationals for Webb's services

Cashner and Coleman deserve a shot at the rotation. If the rest of the rotation lives up to their paychecks we will be alright!

4.80 ERA ftw?

A. That's one statistic...and it can be inflated if a player does not play a lot of innings per game

B.His ERA is inflated because of two bad outings IIRC and he only pitched 54.1 innings last year

C. He has a high SO per 9, around 8(although this is correlated to the IP like the ERA)

D. He was a rookie last year for christ sake....he has potential to be a very good pitcher...and there's reason for cub's fans(including myself) to look forward to that

Only 3 MM? I would have done that. Hopefully this means Garza... but I doubt it.

I'm not a huge fan of giving of Lee, but I do want Garza so. But I just really wanna see Cash start.

Lee is a very very long way away from the big leagues. Plus, he doesn't have a very high ceiling. We also have this guy named Castro at short... he's pretty good.

His ceiling is sometimes marked as higher than Castro's. But I think those are older predictions.

Show me anything that has said that. The only thing he is better than Castro at is defense. That's the only thing.
