Bernstein is a conundrum wrapped in an enigma. He was definitely the most knowledgeable and analytical host (at least when I listened to sports radio in my 20’s) but he combined that with being a very unpleasant person.

There’s a certain point where the unpleasantness and outside drama outweighs the knowledge and tenure. I guess we found out what that point was.

Dan is perfectly pleasant. He is playing a character on the radio, Now to be fair he lost the ying to his yang when TB retired, but he was still the driver of the station.

Much like Catholics who refuse to attend mass until the heretic pope returns to the church to a policy of immolation in immortal hell for men who hold hands I personally will NOT be recognizing Bears Monday until Dan is back working.

As a longtime journalist, I have very little sympathy for the newspapers.

When the internet starting really coming into its own, everyone got a smartphone, and social media started rising, they had the opportunity to have a monopoly at the forefront of those efforts.

Instead, they ridiculed them, called people idiots who turned to the internet and social media (which, whether true, is not a good business model), and stuck to their dead tree media thinking they could just never change, never improve, never progress.

By the time newspapers started embracing digital media, visual storytelling, citizen journalism, and social media, it was far too late. Screw ‘em. They made their bed.

That's the point, the sports teams suck although Illinois basketball just won a 1st rd NCAA tournament game. Ideally, the B-Hawks & Bulls would be playing relevant late regular season games (obviously, they're not because they both suck). Cubs and White Sox regular season is about to get underway, but no one cares because the White Sox were historically awful last season, and the Cubs are already 0-2.
