I'd like to see Zach next to Giddey with DeRozan gone.

They will only get pennies on the dollar for LaVine right now, they probably get more if they wait until the trade deadline to move him. But he could be injured again or the team could have amassed too many wins to keep the pick protected(unless they lose 80% of the games afterwards).

Oh yeah they’re screwed with LaVine. They are desperate to get rid of him, his contract sucks, and he’s coming off an injury. Absolute nightmare of a situation to be in. I think they’re so desperate to move him they’re not going to wait/chance it until the deadline. They’ll take the best deal that presents itself this off season no matter how terrible it is.

Texas just fired their coach. They are gearing up to go after your coach.

ive been hearing they are more likely to go after A&M's coach. I think Tenn recently extended Vitello, or maybe they only offered an extension...not 100% sure. either way, bring it...we are the REAL UT, i think Tony values loyalty(as long as the $$ is there too of course)

I think Bulls will pull out of this trade. Giddey IS balling lately, had to deal with Lu Dort and Dillon Brooks.. such a pain in his ass Defense right there but Josh handled his own shit yesterday. He keeps impressing.

I have yet to see any outlet give the Bulls a grade above a C. This organization is a joke.

And those grades give them a free pass for the returns they passed up last year, the trades they didn't make because they couldn't admit the build was a bust two years ago when Ball went down.

And the G-leaguer from Lithuania looked fantastic in summer league.

If they can keep Lavine/Vuc happy enough they are probably fighting for the play-in same as they have been.

Ayo and White continue to improve. The white guys are more athletic than I thought they would be for sure.

This team has multiple quality options at every position. They could even be dangerous to good teams with the right issues come playoff time and good lucky with injuries.

We should just try to observe neutrally for a bit and see what they look like.

I don't have crazy expectations but I'll check out the product.

Zach hasn't ever shown he really elevates the team enough to be playoff worthy.. Vuc is declining and I expect him to decline further this year.

Ayo & White could continue to improve, but I think it's like Zach.. they don't elevate the team enough.

The team is still a constructed mess and don't flow well together, that won't result in wins.

There's also still a chance Zach gets traded at some point as teams will get more desperate.

Yeah...I think they have to play him.

I am curious how he fits, our shooters around him have matured quietly. We can almost spread a floor out.

My ultimate concerns are defensively but Ayo, Williams, Jalen Smith can play substantial roles. Those three need to anchor this team and make it harder to play against.

Then Dillon Terry/Phillips can add toughness too.

My deepest interest personally would be watching Ayo play 30-35 minutes per night and seeing if he can raise his defensive metrics even further.

I am surprised they (White and Ayo) don't garner the trade interest like Caruso as I think they could be championship type role players on a good team. Here they get a chance to carry the show.

Lavine is gonna have to play well if he wants out of this jail. I'd do everything in organizational power to make sure he scores 28 per night the first two months of season.

Do our part and drama or an injury will happen somewhere around the league that unlocks this mess.

Giddey is very young. I haven't really seen him play. The shooting I am not too concerned with at 21. IMO you don't know what a shooter is until later than that.

A few freaks like Curry, Buddy Hield etc will show early signs of NBA range.

He's not a "pure shooter" but he can become an expert one in a couple years.

Jason Kidd famously didn't develop range until his lost athleticism left him no choice at like 35 years old.

The difference being Kidd could make plays with far more freakish athleticism AND play defense.

Giddey will have to shoot better to stay on floor and learn how to create more scrappy turnovers.

Kidd and Giddey comparison.

I'm not sold yet. I know it's hard with that height gap, but I just don't see it. I'm trying tho, trust me Rask. I'm actually with you on your Giddey points. Kidd, maybe not. He's more like a prime Allan Bristow meets early career Grant Hill(when he was relaxed on defense, not like he did near the end). So to me, Grant Hill and Kidd being in the same draft class.... that would be an interesting comparison pluck.
Bristow's ability to hide in his offense and exploit poor positioning was pretty interesting, especially when he filled in for an injured Maravich. That's what I see Giddey doing well. He finds things that aren't drawn up.

I'll miss Alex, but this Josh kid looks like a lot of fun.

At a simple level also, Kidd came into the league with great defensive ability, Giddey simply doesn't have it. Could Giddey learn to shoot 3s like Kidd eventually did? Absolutely. I think that's about the extent you can make that comparison like you said...Giddey is just a different mold of player

Vinny Del Negro?

Lol.
I enjoyed your post. Giddey numbers are eerily similar to Ball pre shot maturation.

But I don't think he's as good as Kidd, Hill, or prime Ball to your point.

I just used Kidd as a shot development data point. I was going to make a deeper comparison and thought better of it. Haha. Yeah I'm from northern Cal so I watched Kidd play before NBA. And Giddey does not display hall of fame athleticism at a young age, steal 4 balls a game or get taken seriously when he gets in people's faces.
