The Knicks are going to be solid defensively when Shumpert comes back... Even before he comes back. Mike Woodson makes his guys play defense.. Felton is a pretty good defender. Much better than Lin, that's for sure. Chandler is a great defender. Camby is still a very good defender, even at 37 [or it 38?] Brewer is a good defender. Jason Kidd isn't fast or athletic, but he's a smart defender. I think the Knicks signed Kurt Thomas too, who will bring some more toughness down low.

I kind of like where the Knicks are going. They should have found a way to keep Fields though. He was legit.

"Upgrade over Landry Fields"

What? Are they comparing pre-hamstring Brewer to post-JR Smith Fields?

New York's defense just got a better backcourt wise. They should be a better team than last year assuming they get their act together and not be mad at anyone or punching glass..........hope your reading Carmelo and Amar'e :troll:

So.....Brewer's option declined by the Bulls for 4.4mil. People whine and complain that the Bulls and GarPax are clueless. Then he signs with another team amongst the 29 remaining teams in the league....for 1.4mil...

I will sit here and wait for the "GarPax is so damn smart" thread.

I thought the 26.1% loophole was closed by the last CBA? The Bulls wouldn't be able to sign Brewer for anything less than a 26.1% increase over the prior season, regardless if the option was picked up or not.

The Knicks are going to be a top 5 defensive team once Shumpert backs back.

Chandler. Camby. Thomas.
Stoudemire.
Anthony. Novak.
Shumpert. Brewer. Smith.
Felton. Kidd.

I see 'Melo as a player who will take a dose of PF minutes when Amare sits. Brewer will cover at least some ground on as a SF and Shumpert can play both guard spots.

the knicks are doing a good job shoring up their defense to compensate for what amare and melo might give up

you got your guys that are looking to do a bit of the scoring and control the offense(amare, melo, smith and then novak being a 3 point threat, chandler mixing it up,etc.)

then you got your guys that will solidify the D(chandler, brewer, shumpert, kidd, camby, thomas)

if they can get that team to really mesh, it will be a good one..

i think woodson is a pretty good coach and has them in the right direction

If they can get Chandler, Camby, Brewer, and Shumpert on the floor at the same time for long stretches, then WOW. They could make a run at a few records for shot-clock era PPQ and such.

Only issue is having all those guys healthy at the same time...

Too bad none of them are good offensively.

It's like watching the Bulls play with some of the odd line-ups we had on the floor 2 years ago. :rimshot:

They'll just throw J.R. Smith in with the lineup to even things out. By doing this they'll just barely avoid breaking the fewest PPQ record, but at the expense of demolishing the the record for the most FGA per quarter.

I thought so

I don't think what you are saying is relevant. You are talking about rookie scale contracts. That rule applies to Rose, not to Brewer.

I just don't want to talk NBA salary cap too much. Needless semantics that has nothing to do with the subject at hand.
