Roman's got the longer list of QBs and his offensive line/TE background is good for what we have currently on our roster. But the Bills are currently 1st in O/D PPG. Grab some fresh faces on the D coaching side of the ball to make the most of the aging players.
You really can’t go wrong with Roman or Daboll. I think either would be a better fit for Fields than what Nagy is.

I completely get where you are coming from. The only reason I lean towards an offensive guy is because of Fields development. And even though Toub or Bowles have their connections, can they bring in the best guy for the job. We hear a lot about the great OCs that will get looks at becoming a HC. But who are the guys in the tier below them? And would Toub or Bowles be able to hire them away from their current teams.
Totally get it. One thing I’ll say is any OC the bears do get is going to be an upgrade over Nagy…and the HC is certainly going to be a better game manager as well. Besides the offense, the bears need to be much more disciplined and there needs to be more accountability - a shift away from bro bro camp counseling culture to hard nose, results driven culture. Offense aside, that’s what really appeals to me with Bowles/Toub…and it’s hard to imagine they hire an OC worse than Nagy.

That said, a Roman/Fangio combo would be awesome. If it ended up aligning like that, I would be super happy.

Previous coordinators who became coaches and failed, then went back to being great coordinators is a big list in my opinion and one that really scares me when their names reappear as potential coaches.

Bowles, Joseph are current ones that come to mind. I'm not saying that a second time around as a HC won't be different but I just feel like there's more to lose because we've seen them fail as HC's for years on a team.

100% agreed, but we shouldn't shy away completely either.

What I worry about are the guys who come in with the "genius" moniker and believe their own press clippings.

For Daboll, what's put me at ease is that he has adjusted his offense and continues to adjust it over time. You need someone who is a flexible mind. Nagy is the opposite of that. We need less of "its gotta always be my way" coaches, and more "whatever gets the job done" coaches...

Not really sold on him though.

That read like a fine wine. Nagy saying he caters to his players is a damn joke. Daboll gets 3 guys popping open. That must be a nice feeling for an offense. Immediate buy in.

I'd much rather have Roman, just seems like he has a more reputable track record. But if Daboll can bring some of the defensive staff from the Bills I'd be all for it.
I prefer Moore personally, but I got no problem with daboll.

The Bears will be the top destination this off season for all candidates. The Bears should be able to hire whoever they want.

I’m on the Moore or Daboll train.

Ditto. Based on his track record, i worry that the Bills success the past couple years if more due to talent and Josh Allen being a unicorn than it is a coach with a history of failure magically being able to turn water into wine.

It just doesn't sit well with me. Idk if he is a victim of circumstance over the years but outside of Buffalo his offenses have never ranked higher than 29th in points. That's alarming.
Well, I think Daboll's Dolphins were ranked 20th on offense...but I get what you mean. It's hard for me to believe he magically figured it out with the Bills and Josh Allen. This is why I prefer Roman because he has done well with the QBs he has had.

Careful - you're gonna turn on Anytime. He apparently has such a fetish for backtits he can't stop bringing them up.

I'd talk to Leftwich, Moore, Pep Hamilton. We need some one who can develop Fields IMO

I’d make a list of every candidate you want…. And a list of candidates that suck. Then start debating the candidates that suck because we all know the McCaskeys never do what we want.
