As many know I'm an Eagle fan and follow them pretty closely.

With that being said, I'm pretty hung over and will answer any and all Wentz questions you may have.

Let's try to strike that perfect balance of information gathering and pure stupidity.

Can he be a stellar QB with a horrible O-line? Can he take 20 hits per game and not break down? Can he throw accurately while running for his life?

On a scale of 1-10, what are the odds of you becoming a Bears fan if wentz succeeds here.

You are pretty much the only opposing fan on this forum who isn't an idiot, and, tbh, you're better than 95% of people who post here.

RE: OL - It was fucking terrible. They had 14 different starting combinations and that doesn't include their projected starting LT (Dillard) and all pro guard (Brooks) were on IR before the season started. Totally messed with Wentz. You can see his eyes started looking for the free rusher, then after that he was trying to put the team on his back and play 'hero ball'. With that being said he took some bad sacks that were all on him. He's always done that a bit as he likes to extend plays and improvise.

RE: Playcalling - It was bad, but there was a lot of chatter that Wentz was actually audibling into bad plays that he liked. We'll never know. He's the kind of guy when things start breaking down he wants to step up. That might have been his undoing last year.

RE: becoming a bears fan - I consider myself a 'fan of Bears fans', so I'm kinda there already.

RE: if Wentz succeeds - I genuinely hope he succeeds. Some of the narrative is that he's a dick. That's not the case. He's a hyper type A guy who is a tireless worker. IMHO when the organization didn't show faith in him he made his decision to force his way out.

Not sure why bears fans care if he's a dick. We stuck with cutler for nearly a decade and he's a douche canoe.

Eh. Better than what we are used to here, I guess.

Of all the QBs that are "available" this year, I guess he's the second most exciting after Watson. Every other QB that we can get pre draft is either a has-been or never-was. With Wentz you have hope that he can turn around after a dismal year and have a productive career.

expect plenty of stupidity from the masses.
Can you explain the epic shit show including injuries, surrounding cast, Lurie, Howie, Peterson and the eventual benching.
Is there a realistic chance that Wentz returns to his 2018 - 2019 form (assuming his 2017 pre ACL MVP play is unlikely)?
thanks.
RE: WTF happened last year - Last year was the perfect storm. Wentz is the kind of guy that doesn't give up on a play, so the OL problems really messed with him. He's also very religious, so he's a man of conviction. I know Foles winning bugged him and when they drafted Hurts it made him second guess the team's agenda. Add in that he had his first child, COVID was a mess and Philly can be a media demanding city things just didn't go well. I do think he was pressing in games, which really didn't help.

RE: Can he return to previous form - Yep. A few thoughts there:
- The talent is still there, it's all mental. I'd rather try to fix a mental item than try to make up for a talent deficiency.
- The teams wanting him are the Bears and Colts. Through Di Filippo and Reich they have people that have worked with him AND can talk direct to Pederson to find out what went wrong. I'm not saying they are 100% right, just that many feel he's a project work taking on.
- He's a hard worker and I think he'll approach his next team with a different mindset. He will make mistakes, but is also willing to change to avoid ones from reoccurring.

I keep seeing that his o-line was terrible, his weapons were bad, and the play-calling stunk. You've pointed these out as well. I don't dispute those, but in light of that, do you have any idea if he's ever fully recovered from his knee injury? I see a dip in production/efficiency each year (though still pretty good 2019) and worry that he's damaged goods and that it's not just the team around him. In other words, when the play isn't falling apart does he still look good, athletic, accurate?

This is a great point and timely after the game last night.

Everybody who wants to see the impact that can have on even an elite QB doesn’t have to look much further than Mahomes down two offensive lineman last night.

He didn’t even throw a touch down pass and was so impacted by it mentally his accuracy suffered the few times when he did have time.

Now imagine Mahomes having a worse version of that line from last night and dealing with it for an entire season instead of just one game.

That’s Carson Wentz’s situation. except he’s not Mahomes so it looked even worse.

Say what you will about the Eagles QBs, they have had some success. Foles was good with Chip Kelly then later as a SB MVP. Wentz was in MVP form before his 2017 injury. I honestly think it's your team realizing they need better play from the QB position and the Eagles have some QBs out there.

Why TF does he have to be ginger?
Genetics. I don't 100% know, but I'm assuming at least one of his parents are a ginger. Probably both because he's really ginger.

That knee injury was worse than many think. Many saw the hit, saw he threw a TD pass on the next play then saw him walk off with a towel over his head, but he tore his ACL, LCL and his IT band. That happened in November and he played the following year (missed first 2 games).

With that being said, he's 100% now. I think he's a little slower, but that's because he's heavier. I think his style of play puts him at risk for future injuries, but he's a big dude.

Personally I'd like to see him take what the D gives him and quickly get the ball out more often.

Oline is the most important position group in this sport. People seem to think it's qb, but you can't have a succesful offense without a good oline. You can, without a good qb.

I truly hope ryan pace(or the next gm) learn from last nights superbowl. That performance should make it apparent not to neglect either side of the line.

You dominate the trenches on gameday and you almost always win. It's not flashy, but its been true since this league was invented.
