The thing why I could see this help playcalling is bc Wentz will command certain things to showcase his talents. He will say what he likes and this coach/gm will cater to it bc of the desperation. Whereas Trubs didn’t have the success Wentz had previously to justify having confidence in his opinions.

I don't think it's a matter of the coaches not respecting Trubs' opinions, it's more of a matter of Trubs not being talented enough to showcase anything.

saw this on an eagles forum but do you see this as realistic

Latest rumor:
Eagles give up Wentz and a 2021 2nd rd pick to the Bears.
Bears give up 2021 1st rounder, 2022 2nd rounder, Foles and Roquan Smith.
Yeah, I'm not looking at any trades until it's reported.

I remember the Sam Bradford/Nick Foles trade. Originally it was reported that the Eagles were getting all these picks, then as the reports started breaking we were giving up picks to get Bradford.

All the rumors are all over the place. I'm just going to sit back and wait for real info.

Yeah no way in hell bears give up Roquan. If that happened, all draft compensation would have to go towards the bears since they're giving up the best player in the deal.

I'd add, Mitch strikes me as a good follower, not much of a leader. Great Soldier, bad Sargent.

He'd probably prefer a coach telling him exactly where to throw as opposed to having the latitude to make that decision.

He indeed is, which is a terrible trait to have as a QB going into his 5th year as a pro. Speaks volumes about his confidence and ability or lack thereof. Mitch's attitude would be all fine and dandy if he was a position player on the other hand.

@Pegger we've all seen the supposed trade details. Foles/Cohen/1st for Wentz. Are you happy with this and/or what are Philly fans saying? Do you want Cohen or prefer another player (offense or defense) within reason?
I'm trying not to get my hopes up about these trades. I find that's a great way of getting worked up for nothing while also feeling shitty about what you end up getting/giving.

With that being said, I see no need to add Cohen. Boston Scott gives you the same pass catching ability, but can be a 20 carry guy for stints if need be. Seems redundant for a fairly specialized role.

Philly fans are all over the map. Wentz is not a social media guy at all, so once it came out that he wants out of Philly they turned on him. IMHO he's gotta go now and it's Rosemans job to get the most in a trade.

As many know I'm an Eagle fan and follow them pretty closely.

With that being said, I'm pretty hung over and will answer any and all Wentz questions you may have.

Let's try to strike that perfect balance of information gathering and pure stupidity.

I know this is Pegger's thread, but when you say Nagy will ruin a QB, what are you basing that on?
I'm thinking Nagy came here knowing he was working with Mitch and that didn't work. Then, he hand picked his QB in Foles and that also didn't work. As a HC Nagy's history with 'ruining QBs' is what it is.

What I mean is: everyone knew what Foles was. What was there to actually ruin? Everyone knew what Mitch was from his first year. What was there to ruin? Did he elevate Mitch? No, but I don't think it's fair to say any QB has been ruined by Nagy.

RE: wat happin>? - A lot of shit happened in 2020 for Wentz:
- New baby - Could just be on his mind.
- COVID - Everyone dealt with it, but certain routine people were uniquely impacted.
- Drafting Hurts made him second guess his standing with the organization.
- Didn't have someone to 'coach him hard' and was left to his own to get himself out of a funk.
- OL was a disaster (14 different starting combinations and 2 starters IRed before the season even started).
- He wanted to put the team on his back, like he did in 2019, but the OL problems made it really hard to overcome.

RE: scared of football? - Nah, just needed to be shut down. He was trying extremely hard to turn it around and it wasn't working. I think new scenery will help him.

I would think Doug Peterson was a tough coach? Obviously i don't get enough into Eagles football to know but going off of how he's usually kind of a dick in any of the pressers he does with the media he just seemed like he's a tough coach and not a players coach?

A little bit of history. After Andy Reid the Eagles went for the shinny thing and brought in Chip Kelly. He was a complete dick. Had zero relationship with players and was sort of robotic in his approach. After he was fired the owner talked about the importance of 'emotional intelligence' and said it would be important in the next hire. That ended up being Doug, who was almost the extreme opposite. Still had the X's & O's, but was a players coach. He was their buddy and when things didn't go well many media started talking about how he didn't hold the players that accountable in practices or games.

Those press conferences you are referring too is just him breaking down a bit. He would defend the players to a fault, meaning he was the human shield for a lot of the harsh criticism.

That knee injury was worse than many think. Many saw the hit, saw he threw a TD pass on the next play then saw him walk off with a towel over his head, but he tore his ACL, LCL and his IT band. That happened in November and he played the following year (missed first 2 games).

With that being said, he's 100% now. I think he's a little slower, but that's because he's heavier. I think his style of play puts him at risk for future injuries, but he's a big dude.

Personally I'd like to see him take what the D gives him and quickly get the ball out more often.
that played into him trying too hard when the team had quit on him.

Thanks Pegger. And thanks for being a fan of another team and showing that you can have a reasonable discussion. You are a great example of bringing an outside perspective that I wish a couple of others could learn from.

What do you and Philly fans/media think is a fair return for Wentz? Will Philly fans be pissed if he's traded?
Thanks @thenewguy .

They want 2 first, but realize it will probably be less. Ultimately through his agent Wentz let people know he doesn't want to be in Philly, which makes the fan base feel like they have been dumped. I think most people are in the camp of saying 'F you then' and just want to put this behind them so they can focus on the players who want to be in the uni.
