Noah was pretty weak down low when he started to. I didn't know what Omer would give us when he first came here, but I've been impressed with his excellent defensive footwork, rebounding, & underrated athleticism. I just don't see the Bulls FO giving up on a rook they traded 2 draft picks to get. He has exceeded everyone's expectations & is improving with every game he plays. And believe me, Asik will play when Noah gets back, much like he did when he was playing along side Jo earlier in the season when Booz was hurt. Thomas' minutes will be scaled back to help save him for the playoffs.

Personally, I'm tired of all this SG trade talk. We're a top 6 team people! And that's without Noah for the majority of the time. Keep this lineup together, see how far we can go, & then go after a 2 in the off-season. There's no reason to give up a solid, young big with potential to slightly improve the SG position.

agreed. especially such a marginal upgrade in lee.

And there is no reason to fall in love with mediocre/decent players that are expendable...like we did in 2007. I hope Paxson doesn't fall in love with his players again. Would be a damn shame. You go for the jugular while you can. Plain and simple.

is getting lee going for the jugular? Listen i'm all for trading asik for a player than helps us win. Let's face it. we don't have a lot of assets. Do you want to trade what few assets we have for a guy whose really not much better than a guy you can sign in the offseason?

If what you get in the offseason isn't better than Lee, then you get Lee now. Good grief, everybody overvalues Bulls players, did you all cry when Aaron Gray left?

Lee is a mediocre player who is expendable though.

I am not just talking about this situation, I am talking overall. Taj and Asik are not must keep players. The fans tend to overvalue their own. That is my point...

They're expendable sure, but you have to get value back. I don't think Lee is fair value.

What is fair value for Asik? You are overvaluing the guy quite a bit...its not that serous...

Well I'm not that invested in Asik, if they decide to trade Asik for Lee I wouldn't be saying Garr/Pax are the biggest idiots in the world who have set the franchise back 10 years or anything. I just think the Bulls have limited trade resources, basically only Taj/Asik/fairly crappy picks, so if you're going to use some of them they better be used well.

My problem with Lee is you're giving up a player in Asik who fills a useful role right now, even if he's not playing big minutes. Thibs will throw him in to change it up defensively and stop a run. Where as Lee I don't really feel offers much you couldn't get by not starting Bogans and playing Brewer/Korver more.

I don't know if I'm over valuing Asik, 7 footers with decent athleticism don't grow on trees. I'm not saying he's going to be a star or anything, but when you consider Kurt Thomas is 5000 years old and Boozer and Gibson can't play center regularly he's pretty valuable to the Bulls going forward.

It's hard to make a fair value trade because often a guy will be worth more to the team he is on than another team. If the Nuggets would accept an Asik for Afflalo (presumably after a Melo trade where they got a SG as part of the package) I'd be happy with that. I know some people think Lee and Afflalo are on the same level, I think Afflalo is clearly better, he's made huge strides in his shooting since he came into the league.

Unless I see documented proof, it will be hard for me to believe that Thibs is that high on Asik. They play him because they have to. That may be the case, but I don't believe it.

It's on the web and it's been reported. I forgot where, tho.

I dunno how quick I'd jump on to this trade, but I wouldn't mind it. Hell, if the Bulls are real interested they could try & exchange Asik for Lee & just find a free agent big to fill their needs til season's end. If I'm not mistaken, you can sign anybody to a league minimum salary. That's if they would do that....I don't see it happening. This trade still isn't a bad one to look into though.

I'm not overrating anything. I just think it's pointless to trade away an improving young big to SLIGHTLY improve your SG position when it isn't really a die-hard necessity at this point. Give this team a chance to be fully healthy before you start messing with it is all I'm saying.
