You can tell it is an ACL from the stability test. The MRI is to confirm a complete or partial tear and where the year is.

He tore his ACL.

I cannot remember a more uncertain time in recent Bulls history.

Its not the medical staff's fault on injury. Thats right up there with the BG talk

Re: Bulls fear Rose has torn right ACL

How can you defend a medical staff that has overseen an epidemic of injuries to basically every player on this team for 3+ years?

You mean my injuries are my doctor's fault? The irrational comments continue.

This is the same logic that thinks the ball is due for black just because the wheel has produced seven straight reds.

ACL injuries arent ever the result of the medical staff. However, not forcing Deng to get wrist surgery is on the medical staff among other things that happened with last years team. Often times though players just have shitty luck and shitty bodies.

i dont think they would even tho that would be the most logical thing to do

To me its really only Deng that needs to go. If anyone would take Boozer, him too, but thats highly unlikely. Though I'm no longer sold on Noah despite the fact I love him due to his rash of injuries.

The reality of what will happen here is absolutely nothing.

The Bulls will make the playoffs as a 4-5 seed with their lineup of Noah-Boozer-Deng-Butler-Hinrich. They'll lose in the first or second round. They'll draft at 20 or so, in addition to their shitty luck, I would imagine the Bobcats somehow put together a good season and make the playoffs giving us another mid-tier pick that will be nothing more than another bench player. Then the Bulls just do this for the next 7-10 years because Reinsdorf doesn't care about championships.

Are you a pro athlete?

If not, your rationale does not fit in this particular discussion about the Bulls medical/training staff. It is their job to develop a program for the team that limits injury. It is also their job to properly diagnose & rehab any injuries that occur to the team.

Considering the rash of injuries that our entire team has dealt with these last 3+ years, the misdiagnosing of our team (Luol Deng broken leg), & our team not being properly rehabbed (Taj Gibson last season)........They have not done their job.

Many in the NBA community have stated that Rose's ACL tear was the result of several other leg injuries that he battled through a couple season's ago. Regarding Deng, the team should have forced him to skip the Olympics & have surgery.

My initial post was not blaming the staff for last night's injury. It was more of an overall view of the incompetence of our medical/training staff.

When the hell did Deng break his leg?

Asik broke his leg...

Deng has needed wrist surgery, though it hasnt appeared to bother him this year unless thats what caused him to shoot so poorly Thursday night.

I think what i was thinking was that purhaps now Ben Gordon can return to Chicago and totally revamp his career, and lead this Bulls team far into the playoffs, or become MVP.

When the hell did Deng break his leg?
Several years ago, Deng had a leg fracture that was misdiagnosed by our medical/training staff. A war broke out between John Paxson & Luol Deng because the FO were basically painting a picture of Luol not being as hurt as he proclaimed. They wanted him back on the court ASAP, but Deng went for a second opinion which revealed that he had a leg fracture.

Here's an old link of the controversy below:

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/6071/luol-deng-actually-injured

Below is more on the Bulls medical/training staff, including Dr. Cole:

Luol Deng's had a run-in with Bulls doctors in the past. Back in 2009 -- Rose's rookie season -- the Bulls declared in February that one of Deng's injuries was shrug-worthy enough that the forward should "challenge himself physically" in treatment so he could get back on the court. The Bulls released a public statement to that effect and with those three words. The quote came from Bulls team doctor Brian Cole. It was widely seen as a P.R. volley designed to get Deng back on the court for a playoff push. TrueHoop's Henry Abbott captured the mood back then.

Deng didn't feel comfortable, so his agent arranged for an outside opinion. And suddenly that day-to-day injury the Bulls couldn't believe would keep Deng out of action turned into a stress fracture serious enough to require months of rest to heal. Deng didn't play again that season. He was eventually cleared for basketball activities in July. The Bulls said Deng wasn't really injured, and told him to play. A different doctor -- the correct doctor, in this case -- told Deng he was really injured, and that he shouldn't run, jump or cut on his leg for four months.

In Game 3 of the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals, Omer Asik broke his leg. We're not talking about a stress fracture here: he broke his leg. Somehow, he got cleared to play by team doctors in Game 4. He lasted two minutes. And didn't play again until December. Based on the coverage of that incident, Asik wanted to "tough it out." No one with an MD after their name stopped him.

****.

Sounds like it's for sure an acl tear and they are just determining how bad now. Well, at least Rose has his one mvp and his gazillion dollars to show for his career.

Is there a capologist who can explain the impact on the team, in terms of guaranteed money, if he is gone for another year or forever? Thanks

Didnt they get a new medical staff when Thibs came in? And trainer for that matter? I forgot about Deng's 2009 injury, which forced him ot miss that epic series against the Celtics.
