Bogans was, by no means, supposed to be starting for us. I'm happy that he's able to pull those minutes for us, regardless if he's not a scorer. IMO we need to hate on Brewer, before we hate on Bogans. Brewer was supposed to be the starter, he claimed he was 100% and healthy when we signed him. He has to live up to his role by some minimum.

I still love this "thinking". We signed a guy who started nearly 50 games last year for the Spurs and people are surprised he won the starting spot over Brewer. I guess Brewer was the "favorite" to win the spot once he signed but half the clowns around here were predicting Bogans to play between 5-10MPG and be an end of the bench guy.

Deng for Iggy would be nice.

I'd rather have Melo than Iggy but I'd rather have both of them over Deng

Bogans played around 20mpg, and about 8mpg in the playoffs last year, and didn't play in two playoff games due to coach's decision (I believe, if he was hurt I stand corrected). It definitely makes sense that he would start, but I don't believe people thought he would be a legit starter when he signed with the team. Nor do I believe the Bulls believed that to be the case.

But I believe the miscalculation that is more egregious is that most of us thought the 3pt situation would be much better. If it was better as a whole, and Brewer were healthy, Bogans definitely wouldn't start. But I think everyone saw how Brewer played Wednesday. They have no choice. Someone is going to have to stretch the floor and play some defense. Bogans is that guy for now. I guess that is why Redick was so appealing to the Bulls.

I never disliked the Bogan's signing, and I was right there with you. I knew he could start. But you gotta admit, the whole staff handed Brewer the starting spot, build everyone up to expect him to start. Hell, I think a day or two after Booz was signed, wasn't he promising us that he was recruiting Brewer hard to come to the Bulls. I know at that point, I was in the Morrow boat, before NJ nabbed him.

But damn, you know the minute we signed Brewer, people here and on other forums were already declaring the Hinrich trade(for strictly his role, not contract) a win for us because Brewer was obviously going to be an upgrade! I mean, I try to stay positive about anyone that wears the uniform, but I'm holding my breath right now. Maybe you cant have a Boozer with a Brewer after all? Who knows.

iggy pretty much has the same range as rose. i think iggy is better at certain aspects of the game than deng, and vice versa. However If we gained iggy, he'd expose our shooting weakness so much more. Believe it or not, deng is shooting pretty decently. I doubt iggy will perform as well.

Agreed, considering how woeful our 3pt shooting situation is, it's been great to see Deng hitting it with regularity & a good percentage. Iggy is definitely more athletic & quicker but his outside shooting is rather pitiful. I don't think this is as cut & dry a trade as everyone is making it seem. I would probably do it if it meant swinging another deal for Melo. But Iggy for Deng straight up, I'd probably pass. Deng's outside shooting will be critical to the team's success & losing that is going to hurt us, believe me, even if Iggy has a better health record than our beloved China Doll.

I haven't checked in a while myself, but does anyone have more info or updates about the status of this possible trade?

I don't believe there's anything to report. It's a stalemate. The Nuggets want Noah, the Bulls say NO!

Here's the latest on the Melo front:

The Bulls could be the frontrunners (that's my opinion).

The Nuggets don't want to trade Melo to the Knicks and Melo lost a lot of interest in playing for the Nets.

If the Bulls did get Iggy....I think there's a really good chance Melo comes to Chicago.

My 3 way:
Bulls get Melo
Nuggets get Iggy, Taj, 2 1st
Sixers get Deng, JJ

Starting 5:
Rose
Noah
Melo
Bogans
Brewer until Boozer comes back (then if he plays good, he takes spot of Bogans)

Bench:
Korver will play starter minutes
Thomas
Asik
Watson
Asik

Rotation will be eaiser and this to me is a better team. However, they might need to look for a pf, but I think they could be fine.

However, it won't be a 3 team deal. It will be a 2 team deal in both trades, IF it does happen.
