The Bulls should stay away from Stephenson. He's immature, lacks discipline, makes bad decisions with the ball and is a loose cannon.

Yeah, he's talented and may benefit from Thib's coaching style (if he's still here), but we don't have MJ or Scottie in the locker room to keep this guy in check.

I'm sick of these plan B moves. How the hell do you go from LeBron or Melo to Stephenson as your back up signing? Hasn't this front office learned anything from the desperate Carlos Boozer signing? Complete waste of cash which set the Bulls back years; four years wasted to be exact.

we will not be able to get Nikola for MLE

hes making 4m now and his buyout is 3m....Bulls can play 600k towards his buyout....the rest has to come from his salary...which means we'll have to pay him 7 or 8 million next season

Per Larry Coon:

NBA teams are allowed to pay up to the Excluded International Player Payment Amount, and this amount is not changed to the team salary. Any amount above the Excluded International Player Payment Amount comes out of the player’s (after-tax) salary, and therefore is included in the team’s team salary.

Yup. 3yr/24Mil will be the price, which I think the Bulls will pay and Nikola will accept.

And if the plan A guys don't want to come to Chicago regardless the money... What is your idea then? Just live sick of it? Sorry, but I don't see Lebron leaving Miami, not sure I like the idea of Melo but he's better than nothing? Stephenson, only if the money is right sounds good. Fact is, the Bulls are not in a very good place, period. Better hope we get a star in the draft, that is all I can say.

People complain about Lebron
People complain about Melo
People complain about Stephenson....
There was a team of boy scouts here...what happened? They didn't win shit. Stephenson has played his ass off and matured quite a bit. You take a chance on ALL of these players. That is part of the game. LOL...Stephenson is representative of a vast majority of pro athletes. Anybody remember Dwight Howard at 18 years old saying he would change the NBA logo to a cross? Millions of dollars and a half dozen illegitimate children later....you know the rest.

None of them are angels, some are to be avoided....but its like people want a player that walks on water. Ain't happening.

I'd rather sign nobody than Lance Stephenson. This would be identical to signing Carlos Boozer when the Bulls missed out on all of the Big 3.

Save the money, avoid a logjam at a position.

Indiana will find a way to keep him. I wouldn't get too excited about signing him.

I think Tony Snell has played extremely well this year. I would just let him and Buckets sort out the 2 and 3 on their own. I would rather pocket the 8-10 million for Stephenson and try to create more room somewhere else and go after a legit alpha dog.

I personally think Tony has more of a ceiling than Butler even. Back on the ESPN boards when everyone was wondering who would be a "Diamond in the Rough", I predicted that he would be a steal in the draft. Out here UNM is our biggest rivals and the kid constantly torched us with his silky smooth shot. We already see flashes but when the game slows down for him, sky is the limit. The same could be said for Butler but I worry his shooting may not get better to where Tony can shoot and create his own shot.

This would be a bad move, save the space for another player. As long as you have space a good player will become available.

At today's market value, Jimmy is worth more than 6m. The contributions to this team, he is worth more than 6m.

If Butler doesn't take another substantial step forward offensively, he's going to fall somewhere between Trevor Ariza and Luol Deng -- which means a ridiculous overpay. At his current clip, I'd be comfortable with no more than $8 million a season. Thibs is already running him into the ground.

The NBA isn't a league where stars get overpaid -- it's the most star-driven league out of the major American sports. Guys that fall somewhere between above-average and near-star get grossly overpaid. I like Butler, but right now, he's a complimentary player on a great team. He'd be the fourth best player on a championship-caliber team.

I'd ideally pay him 6M, but that won't happen. 7.5M might be a decent price considering that some other team will probably want to offer him something dumb like 10M. Like Jos said, this is the league where everyone who's not a scrub and who's not a stud gets overpaid. Jimmy will be overpaid...so will 99% of the roster. It is what it is.
