I truly just do not understand the Rondo hate.

First and foremost, he's a Boston PG. Secondly, he's GREATLY "assisted" in the fact that he's played with hall of famers his entire career. He leads the NBA in turnovers/game, he's shaq-esque from the line, He's a shooting liability and he's an ugly boy from UK.

That's just me, though.

1. Hating a guy because he plays for Boston is perhaps the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard. Frankly, who gives a shit?

2. Played with hall of famers? Well sorry, but rosters decisions are probably not left up to Rajon Rondo. I kind of think it counts for something that Danny Ainge felt Rondo was one person that should have been kept on the roster when he was signing those hall of famers.

3. Do you know who is currently 5th is turnovers/game, and only behind Rondo by .5??? Derrick Rose.

I mean if it has to do with that, I guess I could understand - because he killed the Bulls in a couple games. But ya know, he is probably the perfect fit for that team, and he is a good player. No matter anyway you slice it, he plays well and plays hard.

I think most Bulls fans will acknowledge Rondo is a good player (Again, I think). I think he's a good player, I dont think he's better than Rose like some "analyst" say. That said, I do also hate him and it stems from that 09 series.

That's where my hate comes from. He was allowed to play dirty and get away with it. A couple of those games he should've been ejected from. Especially the game he throw Hinrich into the scorers table. There's no excuse for why he remained in the game.

Also, since then his fans want to downplay the significance of having the quality of talent that he has around him and act like he's the reason they are so good. That's bullshit.

Then they try to say that it's his court vision, where were those awesome, only rondo can do those passes last night? Then it's his defense. So letting your man go by you to try and slap the ball away from behind and gambling for steals is defense now? There's Boston fans that will say he does the same thing, so it isn't just me.

Rose is better than him, period. No debating this fact.

i think most bulls fan can admit that he's a good player. i just dont like him. kg is a good player, i REALLY dont like him. I do think rose is the better of the two players, but rondo isn't a bad player. if rondo ever develops a jump shot, as he's starting to do, the debate between rose and rondo won't be as easy as it is now.

lebron james kicked our ass in the playoffs last year. i dont hate him for it.

it's not that rondo killed the bulls. it was the random cheap shots he took, shoving hinrich, pushing bulls players out of bounds while playing defense, pushing people in the back while they're taking lay ups, punching miller in the face, and getting the benefit of the doubt in every foul call.

Rondo would need to up his FT% by a lot to even be in close comparison (41% is pathetic)

he hit two jump shots last night. i think part of the reason why i was impressed, is that i give rondo too little credit. i don't think he can hit the broad side of a barn with his jumper. the espn guys said that he's been hitting that lately. IF he ever does start hitting it consistently, he ought to be a really good player.

i dont understand how any nba player can't shoot better than 41% of free throws. free throw shooting is something that's easy to improve. i went from 10% to 80% free throw shooter.

This could have easily been a flagrant foul, too.

I mean does it look like he wanted to get the ball? That´s why I hate this guy. He´s playing nothing but dirty!

That was not a flagrant foul...not even close...hard foul yes, flagrant...no. The play in live action is not nearly that bad.

No way Hou, you just didn´t really compare that Rondo gnome to the greatest ever to play the game of basketball?

What would you do when you´re on the court and realize that your´re the best by far and nobody can stop you? You score the shit out of the basketball!

Wow, did you see some of the things said about Kobe on this forum? On the old forum? I wish they had that attitude about his scoring ability...

You are young and you don't remember...

I am 35 and was a teenager listening to frequent criticisms of Michael Jordan. He was called selfish and a ball hog only concerned about himself and his stats. I believe that is why he only won 1 MVP in his first 6 seasons in the league. He should have won back to back MVPs in the late 80's. Even other players had negative feelings towards him early in his career. Ever hear of the "freeze out" at the allstar game? Jordan never forgot that, part of why Isiah, who spearheaded everything supposedly, was left off of the Dream Team...Jordan's revenge.

And yes, I will compare any player to Jordan when it is called for because though Jordan was the greatest he is flawed. I am just waiting for others to have a more mature outlook on the game of basketball and the players that are out there. As far as Rondo's teaming with hall of famers...so what? Magic Johnson played with a bunch of them, so did Bird, so did a lot of players who are considered great players individually. If you watched the game last night, you see what Rondo brings to the table. Harping on his free throw percentage is a bit much when you consider he is considered a pretty good defensive player and a great passer. He is an allstar caliber player...period.

So yeah, I compare this situation to Jordan...MJ didn't walk on water...the comparison is real. Ask Pistons fans from 20 years ago and they were very critical of Jordan, Pippen and everybody else as we were of their players.

Rondo is clearly a very good player, although he is probably a little bit over rated. Then again, Rose is probably a little bit over rated too, so can't complain too much.

You can't say he has it easy since he plays with hall of famers, remember when the Boston trades happened everyone thought KG/Pierce/Allen would get it done but the big question mark was whether Rondo was up to the task. If the PG position wasn't important on that team then nobody would have been asking that question.

On the other hand he is a bit of a stat padder when it comes to assists, he tends to pass out of layups to give someone else a shot because he wants assists more than points. Even most Boston fans will admit that. He's a good disruptive defender but his man defense is over rated, it's pretty easy to be a gambler if you can rely on KG being behind you.

This was demonstrated on that one fast break when he was way ahead of everyone else and passed up a layup when he was right at the rim pretty much to give the ball to Ray Allen so he could get the assist.

rose and rondo don't face the same kind of defense. rose is being double and trippled teamed at the perimeter. rondo is being dared to shoot. it's not just to compare rose's and rondo's turnover rates. on the other hand, rose does make some bone head mistakes with the ball though...

Larry Bird played with 3 or 4 hall of famers...Magic played with a bunch of them...that has nothing to do with the individual talents of the player. And no, not anyone can do what Rondo is doing because everyone does not fit in with those guys on the court. You need hall of famers to win, hopefully the Bulls have a couple of future hall of famers on this team with Rose, otherwise he ain't winning, he is not that good and very few are.

Rose and Rondo both have pretty low turnover rates for what they do. If they get turnovers in a game it's not because they're Eddy Curry and only touched the ball a dozen times but turned it over as often as they made a good play, both their teams rely on them to have the ball every times down the court. All the top point guards turn the ball over a lot, not just the current ones but past ones, John Stockton racked up over 4000 turnovers in his career.

If the goal is to win the title this year and no future considerations I doubt either side swaps players. Long term I think the Celtics would because Rose is a better building block than Rondo as Pierce/Allen/KG decline, but I don't think Rondo will do as badly as some people think, he's capable of scoring a lot more than he does right now.
