I think I am going to have to agree and maybe perhaps it is the unpopular thing to do considering it appears to look like this "omeletpant" person is for some reasons considered to be unlikable or even in some explanations a sort of "troll" I think he is correct about the done-ness of a burger and seems to feature the larger half to whole pound variations of a burger which results in a juicier beef experience overall. I believe as I would think he dpes, that a burger should require multiple napkins or for some of you people wet naps, because of the fat content that may drip from the pattie as it is consumed, which essentially is flavor. My favorite mom's ex boyfriend would frequently try to take me out to a steak-house to curry favor with me in an effort to further his pursuit of my mother, but would get visibly angered when I ordered a cheese burger but I always said that I like a good steak but nobody makes a really good burg except for a steak-house.

Those 7" tall burgers are useless. How the hell are you supposed to eat those things? **** the "presentation", gimme good beef, where you can take a bite and all the extras don't go shooting out the other side.

I agree with this. When I go to fancy burger joints, a lot of the times I get the boring ole 'Classic' burger because I can actually eat it.

Yeah, cause the crunchy hockey puck burger you get from Steak and Shake is so much better. Noobs

One thing about Kuma's is that all their burgers are named after heavy metal bands such as slayer, motorhead, iron maiden...
But they didn't have megadeth WTF!!! (was a big fan in HS), so I asked the server and he says, complain to the owner :(

Maybe the owner is a metallica fan

Only a fogie would still be recommending something that was called the "best burger" on the fucking Johnny Carson show.

Oh and if you are in New Mexico, get a gas station burger at Laguna Burger. You will not be disappointed!

Wasn't there another thread on burgers a while back....

Anyway, I think one has to first differentiate between a burger joint, someplace specializing in burgers and chains. They both have their place but they are entirely different. Comparing Steak & Shake to Au Cheval, Kuma's or a steakhouse burger is apples and oranges.

Then it comes down to what you like. I like thinner patties and burgers I can actually get my mouth around. The thinner patties, to me, have more texture but the down side is that they are hard to get medium rare-if that is your thing. The bigger patties are easy to get rare to medium rare, if that is your type of thing. But if you've ever had food poisoning from a rare burger, well, that can change your mind. I am not a huge fan of the newly popular loaded burger that is 8 inches tall....but again, personal preference.

There is also the burger place like Kuma's who do burgers very, very well but that is about all that they do. Yes, of course, they all throw in a few other items to satisfy people who don't eat beef/meat. And then there are steakhouses who often do a great burger. And there are restaurants who do many things but also a great burger in Chicago Au Cheval or 7 Lions (or used to at least) among others.

A lot of personal preference and very few right or wrong answers. In my opinion.
