While Arrieta obviously won't reproduce his 2015 season again next year, I expect him to be good. Lester is a known commodity and while perhaps not a #1 anymore - will be very serviceable in the #2 spot. Likewise with Lackey. I don't expect him to reproduce his 2015 season here but he's a known commodity and he'll be good. I feel confident that our top 3 guys will be good enough.

As far as Hammell and Hendricks - how they'll perform is less certain. I was impressed by Hendricks in the post season. He had a tremendous outing in a high pressure game against St Louis. He really nailed his location in a tough environment, which spoke volumes about his ability to perform on the big stage.

It would not surprise me to see Hammell struggle all year before losing his spot. I think Warren has solid upside as a back of the rotation guy and he could claim a starting spot. In fact, all things being equal -- he could probably beat out Hammell in ST.

I'm not worried about our rotation because if it turns out we need a starter - we'll acquire one at the dead line. We have a lot of talent in our minor league system and if we're a starter away form a WS -- Theo will make a move. Yes, we'll over pay. But when the pennant is on the line, we need to do what we need to do.

If Warren wins a spot and holds it it Justifies the Castro trade. My opinion on him is he will impress. But I believe Hammel will be on the roster barring injury. 9 mil is 9 mil. If he is ineffective all together I can see them cutting him but if it is a getting deeper into games issue I see that as justification for resigning Cahill and trading for Warren.

Right not the Cubs have a middle relief that stands with the Royals. Getting Heyward should tighten up the D. They IMO become the team to beat this season

You guys seem to be fixated on the regular season. You should really be thinking about the playoffs at this point. The Cubs are built to get to the WS, but that rotation held you back last year. They got rocked, and looked pretty bad from top to bottom after that WC win against Pittsburgh. Frankly, the lack of concern doesn't surprise me. The Koolaid is always cold and sweet in Cubbie land.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Is that why the Cubs went out and got Heyward and Zobrist? You know....guys who can hit Mets pitching? Stay on the Sox board. It's a better fit for you because Hawk and Brett05 can share BS in bliss.

That one was so obviously bait that I swam quickly in the other direction.

You need pitchers who can miss bats and shut down offenses to win in the playoffs. How does Heyward and Zobrist help your pitching?

They were both in the top 7 in the NL for strikeouts last year

You're talking about the regular season again.

Your rotation got destroyed, including Arrieta after the wild card game.

Again, I'm talking about your pitching stats during the PLAYOFFS.

The postseason is a whole other ballgame, bruh. Winning 100 games during the regular season means nothing if you're not built to win a best of 5 or best of 7 against the best teams in the league.

Quite frankly, the Cubs pitching staff doesn't scare anybody.

Yep, you wouldn't want Clayton Kershaw either with his 4.59 ERA in the post season. The Cubs pitching was third in the league last year and got stronger and playoff and world series vet. Take your meds and stop trolling the internet because you are bored.
