I want the Cubs to become sellers but it can't be done with Pinella as manager... Tejada of the Mets is going to be offer in a Cliff Lee trade because Meija did not interest them much (I know he is out with injury). Also NO to Bob Howry as the set-up man because he is not great. My pick: Thomas Diamond or Brian Schlitter to be 8th inning guy. But like you said, I would love to keep Byrd to because he can teach the younger players, plays the game to heart and is good.

I know that Ruben Tejada may be offered for Cliff Lee. But remember, the Mets will make Lilly their main target if they can't get Lee. So this only for if/after they fail to get Lee.

Howry has been pretty good as a Cub (this time around anyway). But you are right, Schlitter would be a good, and probably better choice, I just wasn't thinking of him at the time.

I know you mention but what would Tejada do as he is another middle IF, I would rather have a 1B in any trade as the Cubs pretty much have none.

Howry has done OK but there has been times, he gave up a triple with 1 out and Marmol got the final 2 outs. There were other times just like that. So I really don't have a lot of faith in him.

You didn't finish reading (or not carefully enough anyway). I wanted to get a Middle Infielder to trade in order to get a new 2B to replace Theriot without having to give up much home-grown prospects.

Yea, a player whose barely a top 10 prospect in a weak farm system is going to be included in a deal for the top pitcher on the trade market, not any of the teams actual top young talent.

I read that you said "you wondering why the Cubs will trade for another middle IF for the minors but I was thinking for trade chips". Something like that.

I explained closer to the bottom what I'd use him for, Acquiring a 2B to replace Theriot.

I didn't say it will be just him. But the Mets said they are more intrigue by Tejada than Meija. But also it will be just a rental so they are not going to give up top players for a 3 month rental. If they have to, they will move onto Lilly.

Anybody in mind? Sorry about that, I might up miss that. Names that come to mind:

BJ Upton will be nice but he does not play 2B and the Cubs need NO OF.
Brian Roberts, jk
I would love Asbrubal Cabrera but he is out for the eason.

Also if Theriot is traded, Darwin Barney will be called up to replace him.

I came up with:
Miguel Tejada - BAL (was a SS until this season, now 3B, but should be an easy conversion)
Dan Uggla - FLA (Marlins are cheap)
Kelly Johnson - ARI

Just as possibilities. If you can think of anyone better then please share.

The Phillies did.

I know, but my intention is to not fall farther out of contention, but to at least make a run and finish above .500 or even in the playoffs with how bad the division is.
