.....ooo....can I change my vote?

I had a sword I took from an uncle's attic after he died, but I seriously have no idea what happened to it. I moved around a lot for most of the nineties and it just got lost somewhere along the way. Problem is my narrow hallways. During a home intrusion...the machete would still be more practical.

I do not care how hard you are....they is a good two second WTF? delay on any movement from any person suddenly seeing a six foot shadow and a fucking machete.

Agreed, but I thought the whole idea behind having the laser scope affixed to it was so you could attack covertly, and from a distance?

That's why the key is to have an assortment. The Katana is what you are thinking of when you think of a traditional Japanese sword but the wakazashi was smaller in size and a tanto even smaller so the latter two were for more indoor or close quarters fighting. A proper samurai typically carried both a katana and a wakazashi for that very reason.

so I was thinking about buying a new gun for home defense (well, actually more like yard defense)

I spend a lot of time in the spring/summer months out in the yard/garden and sometimes there are some alley burglars who try and take shit from your garage in the middle of the day on weekdays. I was thinking of getting a new gun for yard defense, something compact but that I can open carry that won't make me look too douchey. any good ideas?

EDIT: Never-mind I somehow read "Garage" as "Garbage" I will go back to elementary school and learn to read.

Kukri is more my style. Your swords seem a little ***.

I agree, that probably would've been your best bet. ;)

Ah, so you DO want to discuss. Your use of the peewee herman retort withstanding. So, go ahead and proceed. Do tell!

Kukri is definitely a more practical and cheaper option but for pure intimidation and cutting power, I am rolling with a proper katana.
