I really think they should do this. It would give them a first baseman. I would rather see them get rid of Zambrano and Fukodome before they make anyother deals. I also don't see them doing this, because of the fact Ricketts has said he wants to get younger and shed salary. With him saying that if he were to do this he would do the opposite of what he said.

I'd ask if Byrd would take a pay cut to make it happen, but he obviously isn't getting paid much.

Hey Marlon, if you want Dunn, go to Soriano, Zambrano, and Ramirez and tell them you want them to give up some money.

Byrd doesn't make jack crap compared to Zambrano.

If you are going to go after Dunn. Move Z.

Except we are paying Z either way. No team is just going to take his entire salary, unless we take equal salary back.

The Cubs need a lead-off man and more athleticism than they need Dunn.

I don't even know if I want the Cubs to sign Dunn. He has stuggle big time lately and does nice put up big offensive numbers, besides hr and BB.

He's going to get overpaid and I hope it's not the Cubs who make the mistake.

I think they will get Dunn. The dude would pound the ball at Wrigley, giving us lefty power that we've lacked. Not that it will do too much good if thats tthe biggest move.

How the hell do you all know Ricketts isn't spending? Not saying he will, but I still want a source.

I can't see us getting Dunn unless we move Zambrano or Fukudome's contract.

I just don't see us having the money. Baseball-reference.com projects us at 136.6 million already for next year.

I just don't see us having the payroll flexibility as much as I would love to have him.

Agree poodski.

We HAVE to dump some salary.

I really hope we can unload fuku this summer.

Zambrano trade if you can, if not, we will have to deal with him.

Fuku and Z have been making themselves more tradable lately

Yeah, but no way are their contracts going with. Fukudome just isnt that special. Decent OBP and low slugging isn't all that valuable anymore. I mean he is a LH Matt Murton and Murton can't even get a job in the majors.

Zambrano is making 18 million next year, I Just see no way we can even come close to getting rid of all that.

I bet we have to pay 20 million to move Zambrano and probably 6-8 to move Fukdome.

Ideally we can move Silva that would certainly help us out as well. He has pitched well and we should honestly be able to move his whole salary. The Cubs are only responsible for 6 million next of his contract.

Fukudome is now leading our OF in OPS. He's made himself very tradeable, as long as the Cubs pick up a little of that money. I certainly think his numbers were helped by getting all that time off, but still he's a good player.

Zambrano, the only team that will really buy into a hot end of the season from Z is the Cubs. Which is fine with me, because I'd rather gamble on him next season than gamble on one of the MiLB guys.
