Campbell out 4-5 weeks with knee injury

d-man Brian Campbell said he has sprained MCL and that his knee was hyper-extended backward. He hopes to skate in 3 weeks.

Just come back healthy. I like Leddy a lot but the experience level does scare me a bit. The thought of Seabrook and Keith mentoring along the way makes it a little less though.

Campbell shouldn't need to rush it and come back early like he did last year. Take the time to get 100% and go from there.

At least its not an ACL/MCL. Could be a lot worse.
I'll throw up if I see Cullimore out there opening night. Really thought I saw the back of that bum. Bad news about Campbell as its a lot of games he's going to miss.
Mostly sucks all around. The only positive is that the Hawks could potentially save maybe $1.3+ million that could then go against the cap if he really misses the first 16-20 games. I'd much rather have The Ginge playing and the whole team getting into a rhythm though. They often play brutal without him.

Also, not too hot on the notion that if Leddy does well and they play him for Campbell's whole absence, that'll activate the 1st year of his ELC as I really don't think the Hawks necessarily wanted to do that as opposed to sending him to Rockford to finally get some consistent pro play as well as acclimate him to the grinding and long pro schedule.

ETA: Blackhawks TV video of Campbell's talk to the press about the injury:

From all the interviews I read before the injury he SO wanted to jump out the gate and elevate his game this season, to take on more roles and responsibilities. He seems so disappointed to be starting like this I feel for him.

Campbell should have ample time to get more responsibilities this year and in the future. I think already last year BC showed a much improved overall game and all the talk of him being bad defensively are from people who like to parrot stuff they heard a couple of years ago as facts.
haha I was doing the number thing last night too!!!!

I think if you go back and look we can say they rushed Barker too. Primarily like now, because they had too. The big difference is with Barker the teams leaders were Aucoin and Lapointe. This time around with Leddy you have Keith, Seabrook, Toews as leaders on this team. Leddy looks more talented than Barker did and no better people to learn from and play with than Seabrook and Keith.

I'm fine with Leddy being here. Especially seeing how confident he looked last night. The only real down fall is you start his salary cap clock working now.

I thought Leddy did alright last, he was better as the game went on.

My jury is out on Stahlberg right now. .
Stahlberg, Brouwer and Dowell were all tremendous yesterday. Stalberg's pass to Brouwer for Troy's goal was fantastic.

He seems to be one of those guys that heals up faster than expected. I have faith that if he returns on the road trip he will be fine. Going to have some rust on him but we need him in there.

We are hitting a stretch of 4 games in 6 days, and 5 in 8... Hope he comes back healthy, hate to see him rushed but we need him. Hawks play 7 straight weekends (Friday-Sun) with a back to back. I don't know if that's normal, but it seems excessive.

The entire part of this early schedule seems fucked. I tried thinking of a year we've played so many early games but can't seem to find one. Hopefully it will even itself out, I just hope we have more points than the rest when it does, or falling back could be by multiple spots.

Yes he skated with the team today and yesterday. Will be on the trip but the earliest would be Monday in NY I think.

One important guy is returning and the Hawks lose another important guy. Awful luck.

Hossa could have been just a precautionary type deal.

At least I, along with the rest of the Blackhawk Community, hope so.

That's what I just got done saying in the GDT. It didn't look major... but you never know. I'm crossing all fingers and toes for Hoss to be healthy. Dernit, that mofo has grown on me.

I hope it was just a precaution with Hossa too. I hope we'll get some sort of statement other than the cryptic upper-body injury.
