Well, I don't think there has ever been a team that has put this much quality around a rookie QB taken with the first overall pick.depends on Williams, jury's out

Actually Coleman Shelton is not a legit starter at center. He is marginally better than what the Bears have been putting out there, but his biggest strength is his versatility, which means rotational player. The Rams were hoping to save on his already tiny contract by letting him go as a free agent, then pick him up on the cheap. You don't do that with key players. But, your point is well taken, and he should be better for us in 2024, if the Bears don't do anything else at center.Your starting center started every game for the Rams last year and did a good job doing it.

So you’re admitting you’ve been wrong about everything that’s happened this offseason? Thanks we didn’t need you to verify that
It will literally depend on how great Caleb Williams is because despite great rosters a great QB can beat a mediocre QB almost every single time.Because I really want to get the pulse on this.
This isn't about Caleb Williams vs Justin Fields, so if you want to turn it into one of those threads, **** you.
Just objectively tell me, in your opinion, do you really think all this roster is missing is Caleb Williams and off we go to the Super Bowl?
Because that's how a lot of you guys are talking, and when I compare the Bears' roster to the 49ers, Lions, Chiefs and Ravens and shit, even the Packers, the Bears still have some significant holes.
And the reason I even bring this up, is because I suspect the same people who will say "well, even with Williams, of course the Bears have holes that need to be filled before we can compete for a Super Bowl) were some of the same people looking at CJ Stroud and using him as justification for drafting Williams, because somehow a magical QB can just carry people to Super Bowls, even though CJ Stroud did NOT do that for his team, and got absolutely SMOKED when playing a legit team in the Ravens.
So which is it? Pick a lane.
Because those of us who want the haul, see an opportunity to close a 2-3 year talent gap in a single draft with the picks and players we'd be getting back, plus see a San Fransisco team that almost won a Super Bowl with a QB who wasn't exactly God's gift to quarterbacking.
If coleman did a "good" job, he would still be a Ram. He had trouble with nose tackles, they tended to push him back into the QB. He was a get by center for the Rams. Hopefully he will get the Bears by also. He is a good flexible rotational lineman, there is no crime in that. He is not who the Bears will ultimately want to man the center position, but he is a bit of an upgrade. All of that means shit when he started all season for them last year and did a good job.
