nnot sure he is literally talking about a TE. I think he wants a sure handed motherfucker that can bail out the QB......that can be a WR

Kmet is a few things, explosive athlete is obviously not one of them. Jesper is leaps and bounds better as a play maker. Nagy didn't like using him because he thought Jesper made his playcall look like an obvious pass play.

Well, to a certain degree, Nagy was correct in thinking putting Jesper in the game made it an obvious pass play. What he forgot was that all of his personnel groupings gave away the playcall because he seemed to only want certain personnel groupings for a set of plays. That was one my bigger frustrations with him and his complete lack of self awareness on how predictable he was on so many levels.

On the general topic of TE's, yes they can be very impactful to an offense. However, hopefully, everyone reels back the expectations a bit and recognizes that you don't easily find HOF TE's. Kelce is literally one of the best TE's to ever play the game. Guys like that just don't exist in every draft.

Kmet, Horsted, hell even Holtz can probably be serviceable for 2022. I would prefer Poles focus on fixing the offensive line and finding some WRs (remember only Mooney is under contract in 2022) and upgrades at CB before burning limited resources on the TE position. Don't get me wrong, if he truly thinks he found a Kelce clone, sure go for it. But the reality says that is not likely and there are bigger holes on the team to fill this offseason.

Tarik Cohan almost hit 22 mph, it's a little short of hill... get it, he's shorter. :p

To be honest, we kind of have that guy. Just like we have TEs that maybe could be like Kelce, it's sad that our past coach didn't utilize the talent on the team well enough or possibly support them with coaching to find out.
ok, lets decide that Cohen is Hill and that Kmet is Kelce and enjoy going 6-10 every year

Maybe we have our Kelce in Kmet. We won't know until the OL improves and especially the offense scheme. Nagy system clearly wasn't working. Give it another year before drafting another high TE, in my opinion.

I think it's safe to say that we don't have anything near a Travis Kelce in Kmet. Kmet profiled similar to Kyle Rudolph coming into the NFL, and at this point, I think you'd be happy if he turned out to be as good as a prime Rudolph.

That'd be awesome. I think the point is, whether it's a WR or TE or whoever, find the player who's going to be the solid rock your young quarterback can lean on.

Then find another.

Then find another.
I think it’s much more practical to hope you can find a Kelce.
Tyreke Hill is a phenom.
you can get the routes and some of the timing speed with an old Antonio Brown.
Ridley and Robinson plus our collection of speed guys is pretty good.

I like KMET a lot, and if you can make him your #2 and blocking TE by finding a first tier pass catcher, that’s pretty legit.

Very good analysis. Echoes what I just said before reading.
KMET is a good asset but he isn’t a zebra. He’s an in-line TE, IMO also.

sorry, Kelce's don't grow on trees,I agree Kmet would be alright as a #2 TE

Tyreke Hill vs the Bills #1 defense?

Hill is the Barry Sanders of wide receivers. I’m just saying you can’t just get a kick returner from the Dolphins and expect him to be anything like that.

I'm more than willing to see how Kmet does in the passing game of a functional NFL offense before relegating him to "decent #2" status. His size and blocking ability makes him quite a valuable guy for a team that wants to establish the run game as I think we should be doing with Montgomery + Fields' threat to run. If he can be a capable pass catcher then you're not dying for dynamic receiving TE.

Kelce is a unicorn. Kittle had that one huge year and sorta fall back since then. The other guys that come to mind as real game-breakers at TE are Mark Andrews and Darren Waller. It's not easy to find a guy like that otherwise everyone would have one.

I'm not done with Kmet the way many are. For people to act like he can't be good just because of a few drops and because he didn't put up huge numbers in his 2nd year is crazy to me. I saw a lot of good from him. I saw some good catches and a hard guy to take down after the catch. I also want to see more from him but it was so obvious that Nagy and his staff held him back some.

Yeah the takes in this thread are pretty absurd .Kmet was actually good but he wasn't great but considering he was on the worst offense in the league I have hard time seeing as to how he could be

12th among te in receptions
13th in yards among tes

Thats not great but its also not BAD either . Its something you build on for a 2nd year TE.

If we want Kmet or any TE to break out with the Bears then you have to find 5 linemen that can protect the qb without his help

We have to get better at rb screen game

Yeah Kelce is great but he can run all those nice routes because the Chiefs can protect Mahomes with just 5

Until we can do that its hard to say with certainty that Kmet cant get better and dismiss him outright
