He has no history for wreckless play as far as suspensions, warnings or any other rulings. If you'd like to make shit up fee free. His penalty minutes did not result in supliment discipline for wreckless behavior on the ice. You can type as many long winded paragraphs as you like it still won't change the facts.

For the example of Ovechkin's verses Carcillo's, Ovechkin had discipline 2-3 times PRIOR to Campbells hit, which were the direct result of wreckless behavior on the ice. He was given 2 games for that instance and was fined the previous time. Which is what should have happened to Carcillo.

But isn't that circumstance more of an example of a problem of clarity on the new standard vs the old standard under which Ovechkin received his punishment? I'm all for not bothering to fine players who have been suspended for other reckless play in the past and going straight to suspensions, as long as it stays that way and they don't half ass it.

And I don't have to make anything up, just watch his play at any other stage of his career in the NHL and tell me he hasn't been a dirty and cheap shot taking player. You don't need to be suspended for it to be one of them, we should know this. You're holding a system of discipline of years past that, among TONS of other bad decisions, didn't punish Rafi Torres for his hit on Seabrook, that didn't suspend Matt Cooke for his hit on Savard, as some kind of measuring stick of deciding whether or not Carcillo, or any player for that matter, has a history of dishing out reckless hits? Really? You want to base your opinion on whether or not he's got a history of dirty hits on the "reliability" of Colin Campbell's tenure and disciplinary decisions (or lack there of)? Might want to re-think that one.

RK is right here {cringe}... if Shanahan came in here guns blazing about illegal hits blah blah blah that's fine. But to base a suspension on past acts that have nothing to do with dirty play is dumb.

If his name wasn't Cooke/Carcillo etc... that would have been a fine and nothing more.

Maybe if Carcillo was younger he wouldn't have been suspended. LOL!

MY GOD. YOU'RE WHOLE ARGUMENT IS "IF HIS NAME WASN'T CARCILLO"!

Guess what, it is, deal with it. This was the concern when he was signed. And now you are complaining about it?Go back and look at the carcillo thread at everyone screaming about how much of a douchebag he is. And how many people had reservations about his signing. Well... There you have it, he earned his name, and he's not going to out run it just because a new boss stepped in.

Pay fucking attention. He has no history in the aspect they suspended him for. If you "chose" to use other criteria you are doing something they have said they wouldn't, but did.

Round and round we fucking go. Should have been a fine as a FIRST FUCKING OFFENSE!!!

He has no history for reckless hits on the ice? Hmmm....I think I remember seeing him actually take a player out before by accident. Now just where could I have seen him just bowl someone over...let me think...

Where....

Maybe Burish could tell me about it? Maybe at the :13 mark of this video?

But, if no penalty was called, then nothing was done illegal, correct?

I am sooooo confused.

Yeah I don't get it. Suddenly it's bizarro world where as long as what he's done wasn't called for a penalty or he wasn't suspended for it before, he's never laid out any dirty hits or cheap shots. There's a reason why he has the reputation he does, we all know it, why do we pretend it doesn't exist anymore?

That was his own player and Kopecky moved. Not sure how that fits but what ever.

Had he been disciplined before for wreckless play the suspension would have been warranted. Since he wasn't, it wasn't.

I break it down for you.

It has not one fucking thing to do with a penalty being called or not. It has to do with previous discipline from the NHL on or directly due to wreckless play on the ice. This was Carcillo's first discipline for any type of infraction like that.

Had Carcillo been fined in the past for wreckless play a suspension would have been clearly warranted. Just as Ovechkin. The ONLY reason Ovechkin was suspended for the Hit on Campbell is that was his THIRD discipline hearing dealing with wreckless play on the ice. If that was Ovechkins first he would have only been fined.

Sorry I think it was a dangerous play, but also think he deserved only a fine. Next time suspension, and so on and so forth. Since his last name is Carcillo he was suspended. Any other NHL player having that their first offense, would have been fined. Double standard.

But it had ZERO to do with a penalty being called.

I hope he stays far away from any wreckless play. His play on the ice gives this team an edge without the crap they are trying to rid the game of.

LOL I know... I obviously don't really mean I hope he gets suspended. But kicking the shit out of him would put a smile on my face.

One thing for sure, the other teams have had their heads on swivels and aren't taken liberties with the Hawks like they did the past few years.
