but you would miss his dancing around on the bases to distract the pitcher like a little leaguer.

He should be a pinch-runner or just bat 8th or 9th (behind the pitcher) because he's a rally-killer otherwise. Baserunning-wise, he's fast but he can do some really dumb shit (like try to steal on Molina, which did work but only because the umps were blind).

now 4-1...after HR

Volstad sucks

He made it into the 6th inning (5.2 IP to be exact) giving up only one run when the Cubs couldn't score for him. I understand being disappointed, but keep it in perspective.

He's what one would call "serviceable" and wasn't meant to be a superstar pitcher. For 5.2 innings he was good, and then it fell apart. Stuff like that happens to all pitchers.

So I get home and turn it on to witness the pointless tradition of what random celebrity or fringe sport figure we can get to sing the 7th inning stretch followed up by the Cubs getting 3 quick ground ball outs. I am glad to see that LaHair hit another bomb. I would gladly take Matt Stairs in LF for a few years.

Starting to see why Clevenger isn't considered a starting catcher. I have been thinking for a while that Clevenger reminds me a lot of a left handed Eli Marrero.

Well 3 game winning streak is proving as elusive as last season.

He's not a power guy but I like that he makes good contact so far and seems to enjoy going opposite field. Could be useful. Also seems to be competent defensively. I don't think he's a starter on most teams, obviously, and should stay lower on the depth chart than Soto.

The throw he made when Beltran ran is what the line about Clevenger being a starter was directed at. Clevenger isn't terrible back there, but it seems like the way that he is going to be valuable is as a guy that can backup behind the dish and play some corner infield as well since he does seem to be a contact guy.

I must have missed that throw. What'd he do wrong?

It was just slow. It was a pickoff play, and he threw it late, high and to the wrong side of the bag. It was just one play, but starting to see why he hasn't been a full time catcher ever before.
