Gee, Derrick Rose is not the scorer I am AND I am supposed to defer to him? I ain't Carlos Boozer. Unlike Rose, I led my college team to a National Championship. Rose can't teach me shit about winning. You got to be kidding me! THAT is why top free agents will not come to Chicago. Rose is jusr a nicer Allen Iverson. Add that to the Bulls cheap ownership and Chicago blind love with DRose? No thanks, I rather go to LA and wait out Kobe.

Please don't bring college into this argument. College has no bearing into what the NBA produces. Now if you want to bring the NBA let's do that. How many MVP's does Melo have over Rose? That's right none. How further has Melo taken his team into the playoffs than Rose? Oh right, he hasn't. As far as Rose being a nicer AI, I believe AI has also taken his team to the finals along with winning an MVP and being a multiple scoring champion. But, that's your argument, not mine. Also, you make it seem like the lead scorer has to be the Alpha. The alpha is the better player. Is Melo the better scorer, yes, but that's all he can do. Rose is the better player.

Why not? MJ's whole attitude and persona was born from that National Championship game. Factoring in one and done stakes and NBA draft stakes, it is actually HARDER to win a NCAA championship than ansi NBA title. It is GREAT preparation for NBA playoff basketball. To lead your college team to a NCAA championship as a freshman is NOTHING to sneeze at. I would rather have Melo at the free throw line during crunch time than Rose. Lebron ain't shutting down Melo one on one like he did Rose. And I love Rose. Melo is the very definition of a goto guy. And you know as well as I do the only reason Rose won MVP is LeBron hatred. As far as New York, Amare is the problem.

The reason i'm telling you not to bring College into it because college can go either way. If can help you or it can't. You can go to college and be great (Tim Duncan) or come to the NBA and become a scrub (Christian Laettner). You can also bypass college and be great (Kobe). What i'm telling you just because Melo did great in college doesn't mean it will translate into the NBA. So just because he won a championship in college doesn't automatically mean he's a clear cut winner in the NBA. And to suggest that one player can't teach another player something shows tunnel vision. Every player has room to grow and learn.

I thought it took Mike being cut from the JV team in high school to birth his competitive drive

LoL....you right.

Anyone who thinks Lebron James or Melo would take a back seat for Rose is Special person.
If Melo or James came to the Bulls they would immediatly be labled the alpha dog of the team.
Rose would just have to swallow his pride and be the number 2 guy if he wants to win a title....
He probably would have to change his jersey number to #2 as well. :smug:

Also, let's see if we can have a Carmelo + Bulls thread that isn't 20 pages of melodrama.

Carmelo's not a good fit for this team, but I'd take him over Noah and Deng at this point. Someone needs to teach him how to pass a basketball though, else it will be a nightmare.

Why?
Melos job would be to score.
DerricK Rose is the point guard.
Maybe he should pass the ball so Melo can score.
After all, thats what Derricks main job should be.
Unfortuantley at this time, Derrick doesnt have a choice but to be our primary scorer.
I dont know about you guys, but i think Derrick would be blessed to have a guy like Carmello or Lebron on the team.
That way, Derrick can start focusing on real POINT GUARD duties.

Melos supposed to score......Pass him the damned ball derrick.

Dude, all we do is talk about the fact the Bulls need a 2nd scorer.

Also, Carmelo has to be willing to play within the confines of team philosophy and work hard on both ends of the court.

You want to win World Championships, or turn this team into the funky ass Knicks? Stop focusing on players and focus on what the team needs to get better.

I agree with you in principal Scottie, but not on the player. What Rose needs is a pure scorer to compliment him. We have gotten away in the past with being well rounded and long, but Boozer wasn't quite the all purpose scorer we thought.

I thought the most dominant lineup I have seen since 98' was Rose-Hamilton-Deng-Boozer-Noah. Of course, that was Hamilton-Deng three years ago. They racked up the seasons best record (with a nod to the bench mob that had some good contributers on it), but when that lineup was healthy (rarely) the ball flowed. Rose stresses the flanks of defense so bad that these quick passes are necessary to keep the advantage gained.

Melo is a great player my man. But watch film from that year, and then watch Melo in the playoffs and tell me he is a fit? Melo STOPS THE BALL!!! He stops it bro. As an all around scorer and distributer should. He gets in a triple threat stance, surveys the defense, decides what he wants to do, and has many weapons including J.R. Smith to decide on.

However, when Rose was at his best, nobody stopped the ball. It went pst-pst-pst-pst-pst-pst and then we scored easy buckets. Korver stopped the ball, panicked, got flooded by a double team in the corner, and threw a wreckless prayer.

Melo is a ball stopper, because he doesn't need a point guard. He is the leader of the offense and I just don't see it working, or being the most effecient use of ALOT of cap space.

Noah-Rose-Butler is our new untouchable core, and with the departure of Deng there is a SF opening at the end of the year maybe. I'd probably be very excited if we got him, but at the same time I would be worried and have to wait and see how it goes.

Why don't we just win this year, so we can all relax?

Not this shit again.

This.

Carmelo Anthony is sort of like Ben Gordon and Nate Robinson...each symbolizes something to certain Bulls' fans and they've become an obsession.

The Knicks can offer Anthony significantly more than any other NBA team can.

In order for the Bulls to offer Anthony even 2/3 of what the Knicks could offer him, they'd not only need to amnesty Boozer and let Deng walk for nothing, but also somehow get rid of Taj Gibson's contract without taking any salary back.

Dream on, Melo-lovers, dream on.
