I think NBA statistics are kind of screwy if you are trying to correlate them with contributions. I remember Kendall Gill kind of slogging through the NBA, then he was shipped to the Nets and was immediately among the top scorers in the league. I don't think Gill all of the sudden got better or became more of a "contributor"...he just happened to be one of the best players on a really bad Nets team. But statistically it looks like Gill had a meteoric rise in 'contributions'.

Ok...so should his production that season (96-97) somehow not count as much as others? He put up numbers in rate-based categories similar to marks he had hit previously in his career, the only real difference being he played a ton of more minutes. So yeah, if you were just going by total contribution and not looking at rate-based contributions, that could be a problem, but who in their right mind would do that? And even then, it was one season, and Gill went right back to being the same kind of "meh" player he was in the seasons prior, so it's not like that one season skews the numbers terribly, if at all. Over a 15-year career those stat lines become pretty resistant to one single season effecting change. Actually, we can figure out how much better that one season makes Gill look, taking that season out of his WS/48 total, Gill would have a career WS/48 of .071, so that season made him .008 wins per 48 minutes better. That's hardly a gigantic difference, and even then, his WS/48 that season (0.132) is tied for highest of his career with the mark he hit in Seattle in 93-94. So yes, his opportunity changed in a way that can make him look better, but other numbers show that he was essentially just still the same player, capitalizing on a good year.

Its difficult to compare Thomas and Anthony because they played different positions in different eras, regardless of how you "normalize" them.

I disagree, but for the moment I'll stipulate. But then let it be known: that is a two-way street.

Alright already. FACTS.......
#1 Carmelo Anthony is still on the Nuggets.
#2 This roster wont get us a championship.
#3 Deng, although quite explosive a few nights ago, he's inconsistent.
#4 Thibs will coach whatever he's got in front of him and adjust accordingly.
#5 Three teams, plus Melo's green light, plus beating other teams with a sweeter deal for Nuggets FO is what it's gonna take for us to get him.
#6 Melo's going to want to win big if(when) he leaves to (whatever team) We've got the best look for him to do that. (o.k thats an opinion)
#7 Whatever team is playing the Heat will be everyone's favorite team that night.
#8 We are 1-2 pieces away from contention, that said.....
#9 If not Melo, then who?
#10 I just saved 15% or less by switching to Geico.

* You guys are very passionate about the Bulls, thats never a bad thing.
Keep it up. Remember: WE ALL WANT THE BULLS TO WIN EQUALLY.

i agree with most of this but if gettin melo means giving up our heart mr noah then den can keep him......if we can get that 3-team goind (melo to chi deng to phi & iggy to den) that would be ideal
