That sucks bro. I had a lot of pets as a kid (cats, dogs, hamsters, a chicken, snake, rabbits and tortoises) and so the main thing we did to stop them from getting dug up was we cremated them. Of course, I know a lot of people don't like that idea and prefer to bury.

Also if you want to avoid having to deal with pets dying, get a tortoise. Those ******* will outlive you. I got one when I was 5 and the ****** got too big for our yard and dug under the fence and scurried off into the woods when I was about 16. We got him a female tortoise a couple of years after he set up shop in the woods and now they have kids and shit that are like 15 years old. I still stop by and visit him and his fam anytime I go home and luckily the woods have stayed undeveloped as there has been a few instances over the years where someone was suppose to by the lot and develop it but the old man finally just bought it for no other reason than he didn't want to have any neighbors, lol.

What do you do with a pet tortoise? I'm sure if I allowed it, my wife would try and get one.

Sorry for your loss Urblock. I'm surprised that ****** made it through Rango's puppyhood lol. Must be a chill dude.

Talked to the vet and they said I should put him down. I'm going to give him all the time he has left in him unless it gets obvious that he's in a great amount of pain. I don't have any jobs that have to be done this week so I'll be with him most of the time.

Sorry to hear that. My parents had an idiot cat years ago that swallowed a sewing needle, and she had a needle in her for probably several months before they noticed a wound that kept opening up and not healing. (the needle trying to work it's way out) Point being.... none really, just a crazy cat story. Dumb cat spent months running around with a metal object lodged in her eso****us. Probably lived another decade after that. I personally hate cats since I'm allergic, but they're tough little *******.

Nothing, it's like having a pet without really have a pet. Dude would constantly ram into our dogs and then hide in his shell when they got pissed. Then after a long staredown, the dog would think shit was over and go back to his business and dude would come out of his shell and do it all over again.

I remember watching this go on for about 30 minutes one day where dude refused to let this dog sleep because he kept doing this and then slowly following the dog around as the dog tried to move to another spot and doing it again. They can be annoying little fucks when they want to. He probably survived a few assassination attempts from our dogs because there were a few times they had had it and tried to end him. The old man ran a security company so we used to keep the rottweilers at our place when they were young which is probably the only reason he survived being a dick. A full grown rottweiler would have probably succeeded in killing him if he tried this shit on them.

Also have a cat the same age. Spent more money in healthcare on him is the last 5 years that on me and my wife combined. Kicking myself for not having teeth better maintained. Suspect some bad gum/tooth issues, but hesitant to put him under to address due to kidneys starting to go bad. Stuck in a catch-22.

I dread the day his time is up. It broke my heart last time I had to put down a pet, and it still bothers me to this day. No worse feeling than taking the life of someone you love. Almost felt like I was betraying him. Can say with great certainty I will crawl into a bottle for an extended time when it finally does.

Pets are family and people that don't understand this should not have them. Spoil them every chance you get.

Fox is still kicking. Maybe he had one more of those nine lives left in him. Still stumbles and falls down far too much for a cat.

Hopefully he'll be kicking for quite some time more.

I was never a cat person til I met my wife. We're down to one who is almost 18 and super mellow. He enjoys hanging out and watching sports on TV with me (more than she does actually). I'm gonna miss that little guy when he goes, and sympathize with your situation.
