iPhone 6 is a great phone and you will appreciate the orderly, automatic OS and fix updates

I have the Edge 7 as well and disabled that feature...fucking annoying.

You can install your own keyboard software. Kind of nice too, because if you switch from one phone to another, including between ios and android, a lot of the best keyboards work crossplatform. Plus, who trusts Samsungs bloatware?

>looks at everyone with suspicion< I love my Note 6 and yes, it is the side of a billboard. I will not replace it until Samsung hits me up with a non exploding version in the future. Perhaps they call it something else not Note as the brand may be tarnished. Can not do smart phones without a stylus.

Dude, I hope you got an old version of a package disabler and turned off all of Samsung's and your network provider's updaters because they have been rolling out updates to stop the phone from charging at all. I already used an older version of BK Disabler Pro to kill everything from updating. Short of blocking my IMEI from Verizon's network they can't do a fucking thing to my Note 7. If it gets to that I am rooting the phone and spoofing my IMEI. These cunts are not getting me to give up this phone. Everything is a downgrade from this phablet.

Have you considered doing the battery downspec? The smaller battery mod solves the venting issue 100%, but from what I have seen, the demand to build the replacement batteries has dropped, leaving low-bin cells from early runs on the market(IDK how much you follow battery chemistry and manufacturing).

The problem is that this Note is far more of a chore to take apart and put back together than the Note 4 and before. So instead of going the battery replacement route I have resorted to stripping down the packages/apps running on the phone so as to never allow the phone to heat up to the point of causing this battery expansion which seems to be the reason for them burning up. They simply didn't leave enough space for the battery in their quest to create ever thinner phones. I honestly would give up thickness in a nanosecond for a stable phone. In fact phone thickness has never been something I ever gave a shit about and I have a feeling if you poll cell phone users they wouldn't give a shit either about a couple millimeters or so of added thickness to the phones.

Either way I would be interested in learning about what you mentioned about replacing the battery and perhaps sourcing a battery in case I did go that route. If you have any resources to point me to I would appreciate it.

I agree on the whole 'thin' phone deal. Hell, I would love to see some sort of form factor standard and case market, the way AT(and then ATX) clones ballooned into a market standard opening up hardware modifications to the masses. A handful of manufacturers were trying to make a 'modular' design, and that is just ass backwards to what would actually work.

I bet given true competition with open hardware standards, we would notice more people building phones(or getting them custom built) and choosing to go after designs that none of the big companies bother with. At the end of the day, it's just an ARM based board, network card with antenna system, display, battery and power regulation. All of which can be designed to fit into many cases which can be 3d printed or manufacturers by all of the industrialized world for cheap.
